ZigZagMarquis 9 #26 April 11, 2007 Quote The only difference from a true reserve deployment was that the canopy had coated lines and was pro packed. Um, most reserve pack-jobs are pro packed. Now dressing the nose and tail on a reserve pack-job and going in the freebag, thats waaaaaay different.
Cloudi 0 #27 April 12, 2007 Man, I'm so out of the loop! When did PD start using mesh sliders for their reserves? Just kidding. I think you just got your terminology mixed up. Kim Watch as I attempt, with no slight of hand, to apply logic and reason.
jerm 0 #28 April 12, 2007 couple of things to try that don't involve BASE gear: a smaller slider.. ease down on this because it can have a dramatic effect. try a bigger pilot chute. it's amazing what a difference this can make. i've tamed slammer canopies by descreasing the PC diameter/fabric type. try the next size up. Landing without injury is not necessarily evidence that you didn't fuck up... it just means you got away with it this time

phoenixlpr 0 #30 April 12, 2007 26-28" is the ususal kill line PC. 24" would be enough on a 150 sqft or smaller. I have a 36" F111 kill line on my other rig.
diablopilot 2 #31 April 12, 2007 QuoteI demo'd a PD reserve and due to boogie restrictions about max opening height/no HnPs, had to take it terminal. The only difference from a true reserve deployment was that the canopy had coated lines and was pro packed. Even with the mesh slider, it was a brisk, but not painful opening. Nice to know sort of what to expect if/when the need arises. You had a reserve with a mesh slider? What was it? And is that the standard it would be sold with? AFAIK PD reserves have ported sliders, not mesh, unless something has changed.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
