masterrig 1 #35 September 25, 2006 There ya' go! That cop probably did you a big favor. I'll be honest, it scares the crap outa me, seeing someone driving down the street, juggling a large Starbucks and a cell phone. Chuck
popsjumper 2 #36 September 25, 2006 New Mexico cops are wierd. It depends on who stops you as to if you get ticketed or not. True story: Long, straight road horizon to horizon, no cars. Cop coming at me and finally gets close enough to see that it was a cop. Too late to slow down. Cop turns around and pulls me. "I clocked you at 110," he says. "Ooops, nobody around. Just freewheeling", says I. He says, "I know there are no other cars around but you really need to slow down so you don't kill yourself." No ticket. T-intersection, no cars within sight either direction for miles (well, except for the cop parked a mile away on the side of the road). I rolled the stop sign. He pulls me over and gives me a ticket taking 45 minutes to do so and still no other car ever came in sight. $85 ticket. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. bbarnhouse 0 #38 September 25, 2006 Okay I am going to throw my .02 in. This is not directed at anyone in particular, but rather some food for thought. Yeah I know...you're all pretty full about now If people are driving, running stop signs, talking on cell phones, smoking, not payng attention and the like, it is clearly a disregard for the rules in place which are for the most part there for your safety and that of others. IF this is the attitude that one carries...then what makes a person think it won't carry over into canopy flight? Poor choices are still poor choices. Careless disregard is still careless. Common sense isn't common and I guess that goes to common courtesy as well.

Common sense isn't common and I guess that goes to common courtesy as well. Thought I'd stay out of this nonsense but this has got me. I don't exactly follow the rules when driving and that makes me an unaware canopy pilot???? There are many stop signs that I roll through just like the originator of this post. This is exactly the reason I don't post serious issues on here anymore. Everyone on here just wants to nit pick your shit. Like you stop at every stop sign. And I'm not saying blow through the damn thing I'm saying California stop. Actually now that I think of it, you skydive in California you are a bad canopy pilot according to some people. What kind of logic is this. Hey I missed once when peeing, that means my accuracy in landing sucks??? Listen skydiving is skydiving and driving is driving. Sure some people have tendancies but come on. I drive like a maniac and I bet one person that has seen me fly my canopy to come on here and say he is a crazy bastard under canopy. There was the one time I self induced line twists at about 800 feet, which was actually and accident and that is about as crazy as it's gets with me. Your correlation is way off sorry and my rant is over. Maybe it's because it's monday.Skymama's #2 stalker -
bbarnhouse 0 #41 September 25, 2006 Sorry of you don't happen to agree, and perhaps the anology wasn't the best. I was hoping that people would understand it's about attitude. I can only offer what I've experienced..time and time again. And to set the record straight...I have never rolled through a stop signHope your Monday gets better
simplyputsi 0 #42 September 25, 2006 I'll give you that attitude can correlate. I don't think easily so though. And if you've never not stopped fully at a stop sign good for you. You do realize definition of stop is to cease all forward movement? I kid, I kid. It's all sunny outside and I'm stuck working. It's a trend I think.Skymama's #2 stalker -

lekstrom10k 0 #45 September 25, 2006 Years ago a person I knew was driving home New Years morning still under the influance from the party. He plowed into a cop car waiting at the stop light. When the officer tapped on his window he said " Boy it didnt take you guys long to get here". Needles to say he didnt get to watch any football games that day from his cell. mailin 0 #49 September 25, 2006 I'm not trying to be rude, really. Just consider this a 'public service announcement'. You're coming off as a very immature child, which I'm sure you don't want to be. Being ditzy won't get you as far in this sport as being an adult... trust me. All being ditzy will get you is oggles from the equally mature guys. Seriously, this is an adult sport in which being ditzy can cost you your life, you'd do better acting it. Personally, I would never jump with someone who didn't act like an adult - attention to detail and seriousness are sometimes the only things that can save your life.
