Hey RUNNERS, how are we doin'?!

Recommended Posts

:)
We started kind of a short week last week, so I got one good run in. The other days I was either up 'til after midnight or just didn't make the time when I should have. >:(

But if I did it once, I know I can continue! B|

Anyone else doing couch to 5k? Or just running on your own dealio?

Let's say today officially starts the first week, since today is a Monday. Weeks go from Monday through Sunday, and you have all week to finish that weeks program.

So the program this week is:
Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. Three days.

Now all we need is a name. Any ideas?

So I need new sneakers for this... anyone have some recommendations?

Go to a real running store (ask around, call up the local running club and see what they suggest) and get your feet looked at - running shoes are a highly personal decision, usually based on what your feet do. Do you pronate? Have an arch? No arch? Big? Small? One foot less size than the other (60% of all people are...)

It's worth it. Consider running sneakers an investment in your health.
_______________
"Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?"
"Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

I'm overdue with a "News Flash" update, but I did run for the first time last week, I can manage about 50-60 yards before stump-fatigue kicks in...it's a totally alien sensation, but I'm certain I'll progress quickly. ;)

The goal? To get back to within 3-4 minutes of my personal best in a two mile run (00:12:50)... more details to come... B|
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

A name for our virtual running club...hmmm....

We could be 'Running Scared'! Or 'Huff 'n Puff!' 'Or the 'Flying Couch Potatoes!'

Hey, I think 'Flying Feet' is kinda cute, considering our other hobby...:P

For anybody else interested, here are the links to the "Couch to 5K" program: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

And also the link to the Podcast of the running rythms that skymedic provided for us: http://podcasts.ullreys.net/

WEEK 1 LOOKS LIKE THIS:
Workout 1, Workout 2, and Workout 3:
1 Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.

To keep up with the program, you workout 3 days per week. And guys, it is SOOOO tame, even Miss Jaye could do it. :P

I just finished session 1.1, and I guess I'm the first one to admit that it kicked my ass. After the first quarter I thought about giving up, but it actually got easier after that. This is definitely going to be easier knowing there are other people suffering out there with me.

I went a total of 2.2 miles, and by the end of it I really thought I might throw up. Thankfully, I didn't. Doing this two times in the next week seems a little ambitious to me, but dammit, I'm gonna give it my best!

Ntrprnr already posted this pedometer in another thread, but it's worth reposting.

One down, many more to go!

I'll be the second to admit it kicked my ass. I made it about 1.4 miles, mostly walking. I did about half as much jogging as the workout prescribes, but I did better than when I tried it on saturday. It does help to know I'm not the only one out there going through this. Thanks guys!

Why does it say "Append signature to post" when I don't have a signature?
