Lindercles 0 #51 September 19, 2006 Yeah, I was going to post that as well. John Fitzgerald (quarterback for Austin's AFL team, the Wranglers) called into the local radio station this morning and made the point that those calls may well have cost Oklahoma a BCS bid, in which case the referees just took 12-15 million dollars away from Oklahoma. Hambone 0 #52 September 19, 2006 Lets talk about this. Yes the calls were bad...but if Oklahoma hadn't given up over 500yds of total offence they wouldn't have been in that situation. Personal opinion.Yeah...You need to grow up. -Skymama

Personal opinion. You have a point there, but Oklahoma led 33 - 20 with 1:10 left. It's not the yardage that matters, it's the final score. You can outgain your opponent 2 to 1 and still lose. Hambone 0 #54 September 19, 2006 I am just saying that maybe they need to address some problems with their Defence before blaming the refs. I am not saying thta it wasn't a miserable call, but they happen, and people get screwed its part of football like it or not.Yeah...You need to grow up. -Skymama
Lindercles 0 #55 September 19, 2006 They wouldn't have been in what situation? Up by 13 points with 1:10 to go? The bottom line is the referees made bad calls that directly affected the outcome of the game.

BillyVance 34 #57 September 19, 2006 I was just looking through the game stats again and noticed that Oklahoma had one turnover, but Oregon had four. Not that it really means anything though. Oklahoma did request that the NCAA nullify the game and wipe it off the record books. Only way that's going to happen is if ineligible players were used to the winning team's advantage, and they would simply forfeit to the losing team. All that can be done is punish the game crew."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
Lindercles 0 #58 September 19, 2006 You did, but you posted yours a few seconds before mine and I didn't see it. You're right about bad calls. They happen. They happen to everyone. But very rarely are they so blatant, so numerous, so directly affect the outcome of the game, and made by so many different people at the same time. Particularly in cases like this where the rule is cut and dry, with no grey area like so many other rules. And yet every official on the field missed it, and so did the replay official. Twice. BillyVance 34 #59 September 19, 2006 Yep, one missed call would be understandable. Two or more in the final minute? Something funny's going on, and these were PAC-10 officials."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
Lindercles 0 #60 September 19, 2006 Incidentally, it's custom in college football that in interconference play the visiting team brings their officials with them. The PAC 10 is the only conference that doesn't adhere to that custom. If a PAC 10 team is playing, PAC 10 officials are officiating.
BillyVance 34 #61 September 19, 2006 I thought interconference games were officiated by crews from a neutral conference, i.e. a Big 12 team plays a Big 10 team officiated by ACC officials... ?? Or is this just for the bowl games?"Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
Lindercles 0 #62 September 19, 2006 There may be some wiggle room, I'm not sure. But at least a good percentage of the time it's the visiting team's officials. When Ohio State came to Texas a couple weeks ago they brought Big Ten officials with them.
