It really baffles me how modern artists can be considered in the same genre as these people. Sure, they're direct desendants, in the same way that Grunge was a direct descendant of Rock 'n Roll, but at least they gave it a new name.

I am a closet country music fan. :D

The first step is admitting you have a problem. Remember, you are not a bad person....you have an illness:D
My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

I'm a closet country and bluegrass fan. In fact, this last weekend I was driving through West VA listening to quite the smattering of local music. There was also an entire show by a guy named Jeff Black. He's written a lot of famous songs ("Just About Right" - Blackhawk) but has never been a limelight musician, not even to a Kris Kristofferson extent.

I actually like Country because it's usually easy to play on the guitar and sing along.

... y'allternative...

I love that!

And I LOVE country and bluegrass - a local community college radio station had their bluegrass programming on last night - Alison Krauss and Ricky Skaggs were so good to hear!

Weege, you are definitely not alone.

Johnny Cash
Willie
Waylon
George Jones
Patsy Cline
Hank Sr.

All main stays on my MP3 player at all times.

As for newer Country..
Clint Black is the Man. (Good Run of Bad Luck is one of the greatest songs ever)

Merle Haggard and Don Williams. And I think JJ Cale should be included as well but he is really more blues. Actually most people do not know who JJ is.......:)

I'll take modern country over the modern pop shit they have these days. I never got into country until I heard Allison Krauss and Union Station. That there is some good listenin.

Chris

She *does* have one hell of a voice, doesn't she? Another one you might like in that case is her duet with Brad Paisley, "Whisky Lullaby"

...think I just threw up in my mouth a little. B|B|B|

I'll listen to 3 Doors Down and Sound Garden on a back road in the middle of no where. That's the only way I'll go for 'country' and 'music' in the same sentence. B|;)

I have a country cd in my truck right now. A certain Texan (we'll call her Brittany) made it for me.

2 Steppin ( *which I am quite exceptional at I might add) and country music all the way!!! Well, part of the way.

*by exceptional I mean really bad.
My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
