CSpenceFLY 1 #1 September 11, 2006 I was sitting at my computer doing some invoices when I got a PM from a friend that a plane had hit one of the towers.I thought to myself,"So jackass must have flown a Cessna into a building while lost in the clouds".Then a while later another PM announcing the second plane.I spent the rest of the day in front of the TV unable to believe what I was seeing. . Brains 2 #2 September 11, 2006 Similar to yours Spence. I was sitting at work, going over some house plans when my bookkeeper buzzed me and told me what happened. I ran to radio shack to get a set of rabbit ears for the tv in our training room so we could all see what was happening. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. jumper03 0 #3 September 11, 2006 we were being evacuated out of our building. I was at my desk on the 12th floor of the Green Bldg at MIT. Everyone kept saying there were more planes in the air, more planes in the air...and they were heading for Boston. then spent the rest of the day trying to make sense of it all.Scars remind us that the past is real
klingeme 1 #4 September 11, 2006 I was teaching a Microsoft Excel Class at a SunTrust about 5 miles from a military base on the west coast of Florida. We stopped the class and all huddled in a conference room until after the 2nd plane hit and the buildings fell. We then decided everyone should get home and take care of more important things. Seems like it was yesterday. Mark Klingelhoefer
mailin 0 #5 September 11, 2006 I was in my bosses' office, getting laid off By the time I heard about the second plane hitting the towers, I was packing up my desk. By the time the pentagon was hit I was driving home - in the same Boston traffic that became imfamous as the rest of that danm city decided they needed to leave in case planes decided to hit that city too The next week, in lieu of job hunting, I sat in front of the tv watching events unfold. SpeedRacer 1 #6 September 11, 2006 I was driving to work & listening to the Howard Stern show. One of the people in the studio had seen the immediate aftermath (before the collapse) of the plane crash from the window of the studio & was telling Stern "You've got to come & look at this!" yes, at the time I figured some moron had flown his Piper Cub into the skyscraper. It was only when I got into work that I started to discover what was really going on. kelel01 1 #7 September 11, 2006 I was in class about to take a test. My friend Mitch came in, and I asked for a pencil. That's when he told me. I didn't get home until about 10 am, and then I sat glued to the TV until I had to go to work at 4. If it weren't for that, I probably wouldn't even remember Mitch's name, but now he's permanently emblezened on my memory.
brierebecca 0 #8 September 11, 2006 I was in Greek class at Emory. Someone ran in and said a plane ran into the World Trade Center. After class and before the next one, another student came by and said both towers were on the ground. I was an RA in a freshman dorm, and most of my girls were from the New York area. So I went to the hall to make sure everyone could reach their parents and that no one had lost anyone. Thankfully, we didn't have any tragedies, but some girls couldn't reach their parents for days. Rdy2skydive 0 #9 September 11, 2006 I was watching the WTC buildings collapse- from about 10 blocks away. I can still hear the noise and smell the fire and smoke. Today is not a happy day.
Mostly_Harmless 0 #10 September 11, 2006 I was in high school, in auto shop to be more exact. We were listening to the radio when the emergency broadcasting took over. I was stunned but could not believe a plane hit the tower. It wasn't until 12 that I went home for lunch and turned on the TV and saw the footage. My mouth dropped to the floor. I was shocked that they actually had footage of the planes hitting the buildings. Right after that the footage of the towers collapsing was shown. I had no idea they collapsed!!! These two huge buildings, ones that I have stood on top of were now laying in ruins!! I remember the footage of a bunch of people talking to a firefighter on the ground a few blocks away. The footage was taken by someone filming a home movie. It showed these people talking among themselves when a shadow of an airplane appeared on the buildings in the background. It was the second plane seconds from hitting the building. The camera looked up just in time to see the plane crashed. The horror. 3 people I knew left school early that day not knowing if there mothers were now widows or not (only 1 still had her father the next day). I remember driving to the mall later that day. 9-11 is my fathers b-day and I had to get him something. I remember sitting in my convertible with the top down at a red light. The lack of air traffic noise spooked the crap out of me. I live in the middle of long island. There are always planes in the sky going to JFK, LGA, Boston, or the airport in my hometown. Although the noise is never loud enough to be annoying you could always look up and see a plane pass overhead. I sat at that redlight for about a minute and a half, the eire sound of nothing and the lack of planes in the sky will always haunt my memories. My cousin is in the NYPD, he was one of the last people in building 7 before it collapsed, lucky for me he is safe. I can't imagine the fear that the people had who were in the planes. I can't imagine the fear that the people had who where in the buildings. I can't imagine the images that are forever burned into the minds of the people who were blocks from the buildings. But I will always remember where I was, what I was doing, and how I felt that day._________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

SpiritFingers 0 #13 September 11, 2006 I work in downtown San Francisco. I was walking into the building, heading toward Starbucks when i heard someone talking about it. Very confused, I walked to the elevators and ran into another building tenant who confirmed that a plane just went into the WTC. By the time i got upstairs i walked into the traders room just in time to see the second plane hit. Still in shock and very confused we just sat there and watched for a while. When the first building collapsed we then decided to evacuate the office. It was chaos from there. Lost a lot of friends in the business that day. Its still hard to watch anything about it now. It really is a sad sad day...
PLFXpert 0 #14 September 11, 2006 I was in college, at my morning job. Like everyone else, thinking "how tragic" when the first plane hit, and then getting a creepy, strange all-over sensation when the second plane hit. I think it was like that for most people--going from a sad freak accident train of thought to one of "Holy cow. We're being attacked." It's not that I believed it could "never happen to us" but it never had in my lifetime. So it was certainly a shock to me that we were being attacked on our own soil. I was home just after the second plane hit only to find out our cable was out. Billy was home moments later and we listened to the radio for a while, then were glued to the TV once the cable came back on. We were cleaning out a shed the next day for a neighbor who had moved (we were friends w/ the landowner) and found an old, dusty American Flag on a pole (the kind you hand from your house). So, like everyone else, we decided to hang it from our porch.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
simplyputsi 0 #15 September 11, 2006 I was at work doing a floor move. I worked retail and we were moving our floor to change from summer to winter season, hunting to be more exact. I was racking my brain to get things to fit and look nice and news came from downtairs that a plane hit the WTC. I was like what cessna pilot couldn't see a huge building. Then someone said no it was a big plane. I was confused. Then another. I went downstairs to see what was going on on the big screen tv we had, sporting good store. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I remember going to lunch, to the mall and being stopped at the door. Sorry we are evacuating the mall. I was going to the mall to get a dress shirt for the wake of the dad of the girl I loved with all my heart. I remember driving around trying to find a place open and everyone was closing. I went back to work and we are closing but I could stay if I wanted to get my work done. I remember staying for a bit, checking the tv periodically. Left a few hours later to glue myself to the tv until the wake. At the time nothing much mattered to me than making the girl I loved as comfortable as possible. I remember so much about that time period.Skymama's #2 stalker -
Ripsmacker181 0 #16 September 11, 2006 We were smoking grade A marijuana in my best mates millionaire mansion after a days work, drinking Jack daniels and Coke. In shock. I remeber washing some dishes when this guy walks in and say a plain just hit, thought nothing of it till I saw the news, thought it was a light aircraft like a cessna not a ready made fuel bomb boeing 747. Great Skunk though and the JDC washed it down nicley. Drove home. Those were the days, stopped all that now, reformed.MediCare : Allergic to Prison. irisheyes 0 #17 September 11, 2006 I was in class at law school. A friend of mine, who knew my sister worked by the Pentagon, came to get me to let me know what was going on. Most everyone went home straight away. I spent the rest of the day desperately trying to get in touch with my sister or any one who may have seen her that day. Finally talked to her at close to 8pm. Very sad and scary day.
AggieDave 6 #18 September 11, 2006 I was still at A&M and in the Corps of Cadets. I had just sat down for class which happened to be taught by a retired USMC colonel. He came in PISSED and said to leave, no class today due to a terrorist attack. The first tower had been hit about 10 minutes prior. I made it back to my dorm room and turned the TV on in time to see the 2nd tower hit. The rest of the day was spent in front of the TV.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

Due to the 5 or 10 minute delay of broadcast to buffalo, my dad had no idea what I was talking about. Amazon 7 #23 September 11, 2006 I was driving across the Astoria Bridge over the Columbia River when I heard the news on the radio. I had planned to go out salmon fishing across the Columbia River Bar that day. When I got over to the Marina where I keep my boat I went into the bait and tackle shop and just watched the TV... transfixed on the events. When the second plane hit... I told the other people that were there watching with me that this nation was going to war. Fiv e years later... we are still at war.. and the Taliban is making a comeback.
