AggieDave 6 #1 September 5, 2006 No big surprises in week 1, except maybe Colorado getting beat at home. Watching TCU and Baylor I'm still wondering how and why TCU is ranked as high as they are this year. The Aggies did ok, although the defense looked really shaky. Steve McGee really showed his ability to be an all around QB. Good leader on the field, good on the run (he even drops his head/shoulder and pushes hard for another yard) and he's got a good arm. All in all I was really impressed with his performance.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Lindercles 0 #2 September 5, 2006 No surprises? Two Division 1AA teams beat Division 1A teams! And that Fl. St./Miami game last night looked good on paper, but damn both offenses looked pretty crappy for being top 15 schools. THIS weekend is going to be great. UT/Ohio St. AND ND/Penn St. I'm stoked! It still goes back our discussions we've had about the shortfallings of the BCS in terms of rankings and actual team ability. QuoteTHIS weekend is going to be great. UT/Ohio St. AND ND/Penn St. I'm stoked! I'm with you about those games! A&M is playing Oh-La-La, so hopefully that'll go well and give the defense to work out some of their issues.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." PLFKING 4 #7 September 6, 2006 Notre Damn shouldn't have beaten the Jackets. Despite the hype all their School of Journalism grads are spewing forth, I see them losing at least thrice this season. Stumpy 284 #12 September 6, 2006 I'm asking because i genuinely don't get it, not to be awkward - whats the big deal with college sport? Its a bunch of kids at school! Sure its practically a professional level but do you all tend to support your local college? or the one you went to ? and do you support the NFL team as well? I just don't understand where the attraction of watching school sport comes from?Never try to eat more than you can lift
Hambone 0 #13 September 6, 2006 QuoteNotre Dumb started dominating the Jackets late in the first half and kept it up for the second. I didn't watch any other games. I don't know that i would saythat they were dominating the Jackets. Dominating implies that they were able to put 3 or 4 on them, but they weren't. Tech should have won that game. Nix is still trying to get his feet under him as a play caller but it seems obvious that tech should have gone for the 4th and 1 late in the game. That could have changed the whole outcome. Also I feel like UT needs to be mentioned as they blew out Cal. I didn't see that one coming, but UT appears to be Legit this year. In response to the question about college sports, its simply that college sports have a certain mystic that goes with them. There is heart and soul in the team and the school. Some people pull for both their local school and the one they attended, I went to Furman so i pull for them, and i have been a tech fan as long as i can remember so i pull for them. Its a great time, and there are distinct emotions that go along with these teams where in the pro's it all feels fabricated.Yeah...You need to grow up. -Skymama

BillyVance 34 #16 September 6, 2006 Quote And that Fl. St./Miami game last night looked good on paper, but damn both offenses looked pretty crappy for being top 15 schools. That would be a credit to two of the best defenses in the southeast. I felt like it would be a low-scoring slobber-knocker. I was glad to see FSU beat Miami on the road... Hate the fucking 'Canes... Leave it to Alabama to steal a few years of life from their fans with the game on the line at the very end and a game-saving interception! With a young defense, I think we did alright against the nation's #1 passer last year. Taking our experience against Florida and Texas Tech last year helped. Still, we got probably the toughest road schedule in the country this fall - Arkansas, Florida, Tennessee and LSU... I'd be happy if we can split them, but there needs to be a helluva lot of improvement in our play... But man, do I love our newly expanded stadium! 5th largest on-campus stadium in the country at 92,138 seats! Choke on THAT, cow college!
