sundevil777 102 #77 September 4, 2006 Quote BWAHAHAHAHAHA. Are you that fucking stupid and arrogant. Making assumptions about something you know nothing about. And then it's people like you who whinge about WHUFFO"S. You're one yourself. He's forgotten far more than you'll ever learn about animals. I dont mean to sound harsh but I hope you go in before your kids want to jump. Don't want your children suffering from your idiotic choice in pastimes. Last thing this world needs is more crazy skydivers influencing their children. You are a fucking moron. RIP Croc Hunter. Skydivers don't intentionally irritate dangerous wild animals, and then expect that a couple steps away will be enough of an escape when they attack. I think comparing it to skydiving makes for a lousy analogy. Mechanical devices vs dangerous animals. We all tempt fate in many ways by driving, flying, etc. but to intentionally irritate dangerous animals as he did with his kid along is in a whole different league, in my opinion. He might as well have been running with the bulls while holding his kid in his arms. Quite different than skydiving, I think.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
Skyrad 0 #78 September 4, 2006 The last recorded death from a stingray was 1944. Thats unlucky, I really liked his work and thaought he seemed like a top bloke. lisamariewillbe 1 #80 September 4, 2006 Regardless of that, his daughter helped capture her first croc at 6 years old. This was his life and his childrens lives. Its not right to many of us and you wouldnt catch me dead doing it with my own children. He was making a documentry on these rays. He didnt irratate the animals, he used them in the same ways others like Jack Hanna did. He used them to educate the public....its the primary focus of a zoo. When in the wild, most the times he "wrestled" crocs was when he was trying to capture them to either relocate or give them medical care. I think taking one action of this mans life and using it to justify his death and make his life work less is being a idiot. Most people will not realize what he did to the field of zoology, and that is because his work isnt complete, Terry, and their children will continue it. Bindi (his 8 year old daughter) herself has handled dangerous animals and can run circles around most people in a battle of the wits when it comes to knowledge on animals. He will not die in vain, people mocked him in his life and they will mock in his death.Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this

Nightingale 0 #86 September 4, 2006 Quote can you tell me more about barbs? to take one in the chest, it sounds like he was stabbed w/ a sword! is this accurate? how far can they penetrate? or is it not a matter of depth of penetration but of venom/poison that would be lethal? i thought the barbs were more flexible. It's pretty close to being stabbed with a sword. The barbs can be up to ten inches long, and this one went under his ribcage and into his heart. It was a freak accident. People swim with stingrays all the time, get stung all thet time, and walk away with a puncture wound, a band-aid, and a good story.

He taught his kids what he was taught, not right in some opinions, and not wrong in others. Doesnt mean his death is funny or that he should have lost his kids. riddler 0 #90 September 4, 2006 Quote It's pretty close to being stabbed with a sword. I'm not sure I agree - yeah, the stinger can be long, but in most cases, it's not 10 inches - five to six inches is more common, and they aren't going to be plunging it all the way in, because of the thrusting angle - upward and at an angle. Penetration of the wound is typically much less than the full length of the stinger - usually an inch or so. In most cases, the venom hurts much more than the perforation. But I could be wrong I've never been stung by one.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

But hey we're all skydivers we're used to people telling us we're irriesponsible (because they dont understand what we do) when we arent. Steve was a professional. What he did appeared dangerous but he was a very skilled man with extrodinary talent for what he did and i have great respect for him. I was quite shocked when i heard the news. Im certainly gonna miss watching his shows. He was a real entertainer and a great colorful character. I pray for his family and that he rests in peace. kenz 0 #99 September 4, 2006 steve really was a remarkable man - and i don't know about you, but i know his approach really sparked my interest in animals for the first time since i was a kid... he made them really interesting and made you feel comfortable with him - almost like you knew him - it really is a shame and i feel terrible for terri and the kids - what is good though is that they will be able to watch their father when they are older and ready and see what an amazing man he was and how passionate he was about what he did.. people may think he was nuts but at least he was doing what he loved and made a huge difference in the world with animal awareness and preservation the world lost a great man - hopefully his family will be able to get through such a difficult time - my thoughts and prayers are with them rest in peace steve"life does throw curveballs sometimes but it doesn't mean we shouldn't still swing for the homerun" ~ me
SkydiveStMarys 0 #100 September 4, 2006 I heard on the news, CNN had Discovery Channels president on for an interview. The Prez said that, "Steve REALLY LIVED life." Not many of us can say that. We go about our day to day dealings and forget to stop and really assess if this is what it is "all" about. I liked his "passion" for life and for animals. Was he a little kooky? Yeah, I think so, but thats it what made him endearing to me and to others I suspect. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
