slug 1 #156 March 4, 2004 QuoteScott the point is he did not just give up trying...even if he did try hard several times to screw it up..he did NOT want to get caught. I only picked him because most people can recognize the name I should have picked any number of guys who did far more to help themselves in the South East Asian War Games, but there were more than one in that era who just friggin gave up without trying. IMO Scott was just another Pentagon propaganda oops I mean public relations success story like Jessica. I think the only ones who were successful in E&E in our class in Panama were the combat controlers,& para rescue guy's. A city slicker pilot/air crew person (new yorker city here) would have a problem with E&E in the jungle or woods with just one course. PT what the hell is that? I can't even spell it! No disrespect Ms Amazon but IMO Fairchild was the wrong place at the wrong time (late 60's) to teach E&E for SEA. THE POW camp OTOH was a good idea but wasn't available in Panama the right place to teach E&E at that time. Of course both Fairchild and Panama schools were "success stories" at the same time. Don't know what kind of training Ogrady got, 20-20 whatever it was, it wasn't enough. R.I.P.
Amazon 7 #157 March 4, 2004 QuoteFairchild was the wrong place at the wrong time (late 60's) to teach E&E for SEA Most of the guys went from the Basic School to the Jungle School at CLark where it was more in depth. The Tropic School was there for other purposes. Hell I LOVED the Tropic School.. I HATED the Jungle school on a few levels. The Jungle School in the PI was far more oriented to what to do after you ass is blown outta the sky by a SAM. I still ate well at both though None of the training those guys got was ever enough when it cam e tiome to use it. Again it goes to the motivation factor. a PJ or a CC might be spending a whole bunch of time on the ground.. where as a pilot would just be a tourist till they could get him out. Guys like Scott HAVE to practice it and live it. Its not just a game in training to them its their lives.... which leads to EXCELLENT motivation. Meux 0 #174 October 10, 2005 Just transferred from the Guard to the Air Force Reserve. Spent 14.5 years on Active duty in the Air Force. Left in 1989, joined the guard then. Spent my first six years as an Air Traffic Control Radar Specialist. Learned to fly in the aero club and thought it might be fun to fly Air Force jets. Went to the education office and asked about getting a degree so I could qualify for OTS. Three years later I was in OTS with a slot for Pilot Training. Got my first choice assignment, a Warthog to RAF Bentwaters. Since then it's been nothing but aweseome. Great friends, great experiences, and hopefully with my new job all that will continue. I've flown the A-10, OV-10, A-37, F-16, and the C-130. Got rides in the F-15 and a CF-18. Have flown a number of cool simulators over the years, A-7, F-4, C-141, CV-22 and the V-22, UH-1, and probably some that I've forgotten about. Next week is my 30th year in the military, at my current rank I can serve six more years. When that terrible day comes that t I have to leave, I will go kicking and screaming. Meanwhile, I'm loving it. God Bless all the soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen who are defending FREEDOMS FRONTIER around the world. Cheers, Mo
