Depends on the topic. Thinner than I let on sometimes.

Likewise.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

The older I get, and more exposed to mean-spirited people, the thicker it is getting.

I was thinking about this just the other day and came to a similar conclusion as expressed by Krisanne and Wendy. I didn't break it down by topic but I see that I am more sensitive than I let on many times. Then I asked my self why is it that I cover sometimes and react honestly sometimes? Then I realized I was being my own shrink so I told myself to STFU and went no further.

My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

You've got to have a thick skin to do what I do. I think that having a thick skin means a couple of things. First, it is the ability to recognize that all criticism that you receive can be constructive if you decide to let it be. Having a thick skin allows one to look at things in that way.

The second part is that having a thick skin means being able to put aside what people say if you believe the person to be wrong.

So, really, having a thick skin means that we do not magnify disappointments or failures- we learn from them. We count our blessings, i.e., recognize the blessing of having friends or enemies who will tell us what is really going on. And we need to use our thick skin far less often because we'll point out "I fucked up" before anybody else has to tell us that we did.

My wife is hotter than your wife.
