I think it's funny, 'cause some guy asked me the other day if I was a Floridian and since I've been here since 1985, I HAD to say (yes)!! He laughed!! There are beautiful places indeed, but like you said, the heat is just overwhelming!! :)

So those of you that go back for a visit, does it seem like "home" or not?

I live about 850 miles away from where I grew up. I visit the family and friends back "home" about 4x's a year. I miss it. Couldn't afford to live there and it is sooooo congested that I would go crazy!! I guess when I say I miss it, I miss the friends and family and the "familiarity" of it all, though I have lived where I am at now for 10 yrs. I enjoy where I live because I love the weather.

still live in the same area that you grew up in? Just curious. If you moved away, why? Work? Relationship? School?

Bobbi

Still live in the same country.

Left for school, because I wanted a decent education that didn't require living amongst farm fields, let me snowboard in the winter, and didn't mean living with 90+ degree summer days with 90% humidity.

Same state, new city.

I've traveled to 42 states and enjoyed each one. They all have their pros and cons.

But, I'm a Florida girl. I LOVE it here. I would most definitely consider a summer home somewhere else and a winter home here when I'm old and full of hot flashes. In that case, my summer home would most definitely have to be in NC.:)
I really, really, could never see myself living anyplace else.

Wait...

I lied. I'd DEFINITELY consider Hawaii.:D But, Billy's too much of a "family" guy to be that far from the rest of the peeps.:P

Alaska is really beautiful, too---but I've only been there in the summer. I don't think I'd like the winter much.

Yes, Florida. Crazy Beautiful Florida. Love it! :)
Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

um... for the time being I happen to be close to where I grew up... but only because of where I'm stationed at the moment. in another 3-5 years I'll likely be somewhere else.

And that doesn't bother me in the least. :$

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and lived in NH, VA, and now CO since then. New Hampshire feels most like home to me, even though I only lived there for eight years. I'm not sure why; I just kinda feel like that's where I'm from. Most of my friends from PA have moved away, but almost all of our parents still live there (at least half the year - snowbirds), so we keep in touch or see each other occasionally. I get back to PA about once a year, but while it's familiar and I know where everything is, it just doesn't feel like home to me. NH does...

My parents first made the move from Long Island to Massachusetts. They sold the home I grew up in. Not long after, my job offered me a promotion and I could pick the location. One was near my parents, so that was the one I picked. Now in addition to my parents and myself, I have 4 other siblings living in a 5 mile radius.

I'm clear on the other side of the country. Grew up CA, now in FL. Since I've been in the Air Force, I've also been stationed in CO and S Korea, with a couple months in AK and TX. B|

My folks moved to WA a couple years ago to be near my sister and honestly, the town I grew up in doesn't feel like home at all. It used to, until my folks sold the house I grew up in. :(:(:(

I'm far more inclined to spend time in WA with my folks, tho I've only been there a few times.
