guppie01 0 #3 August 17, 2006 Wasn't part of it, but it was pretty funny. One weather hold day the DZ was attacked by masked ninja dressed (presumed skydivers) men wielding silly string and sirens. The whole DZ/including people were covered in silly string. g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" Brains 2 #4 August 17, 2006 Our favorite past time was to get out an old round parachute and a plastic kiddie pool. Sit in the pool and hold onto the risers of the round, and i mean HOLD ON! Of course this is on wind hold days. I have heard rumors of a creeper slingshot incident involving a fellow .commer, but i won't mention it cause i wasn't there. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

Solid cloud cover with a ceiling of 2000 feet didn't stop Mullin's King Air from offering hop-n-pops after a half-day wait. So some of us hard-asses signed up. Time from take off to EXIT EXIT EXIT: approximately 1 minute 10 seconds. Exit altitude 1900 feet. Great fun!!! You know, as a matter of fact, one group of highly experienced jumpers (all over 2000 jumps) did a chunked 7 way off at 1900 feet. They held together perfectly for 2 seconds, then tracked the fuck away for another couple of seconds and deployed... They were all in the saddle at around 1000 feet. simplyputsi 0 #12 August 17, 2006 I saw, on video I wasn't there, someone get ground launched by being towed behind a van with a big old canopy. They even made a cut away handle on the towing rope so as said person could not be dragged unwillingly. It all worked out just fine, but it had potential.Skymama's #2 stalker -

CSpenceFLY 1 #14 August 17, 2006 Made 4 jumps from a Cessna ranging from 1600-1900 with a Spectre 170.I had line twists on the forth one and decided it was time for a beer. Winds gusting to about 40mph took a student canopy(about a 230 if I remember) and made a kite out of it. Tied a round to a truck bumper and gave people rides up and down the runway. . DontPanic 0 #19 August 18, 2006 We got six plastic chairs, and set them up like bowling pins. Then we got a jumper to volunteer to put on his helmet and lay on one of those creepers you use for training body position. Then we slide him head first into the chairs to see how many you could knock over.

L.O. 0 #21 August 18, 2006 Quincy, back in the early 90s. I wasn't involved but I watched. People were BASE jumping off the top of a pick-up camper. They were doing a hard arch throwing the pilot chute, the whole nine yards. They fell into a gruop of skydivers who were clasping hands and they absorbed the impact. This worked great until one time the base jumper didn't get a good launch. He landed short and just two guys had to take the force of impact. The two guys were drawn together so hard that it cracked skulls, one was rendered unconscious immediately. It was neat to watch though. Head down from 1600 is fun 9 points from 3100 on a 3 way (full rotational moves, not just grip switch'n). With the famous Jim Klinge pulled the 182 out and did some fly-bys (so close that people were diving into the snow(and they were standing next to a building)) And I am the S&TA.HPDBs, I hate those guys. Douva 0 #24 August 18, 2006 # 1: We used to ground launch old student canopies behind pickup trucks in West Texas. On really windy days, you didn't even have to pull them; you could simply anchor them and let the 20+ MPH winds do their thing. Once we hooked up two parasailers to one truck, and they flew around each other doing over-and-unders. That was pretty dangerous. After once getting stuck at 600' for a half hour, unable to come back down do to a frontal system, I started always incorporating rope cutaway handles into my rigs. We also eventually realized that the rope cutaway is an important safety feature because the canopy can pivot into a downplane, and your only way to recover is to cutaway the rope and land. #2: I once saw low pull contests from about 1,800', out of the Bell 412 at Quincy. It's pretty creepy when you can see a free falling jumper's fingers from the ground. #3: Once a bunch of my friends and I got rained out of a day at the Holiday Boogie, so we all put on our camera helmets and went bowling in them. This video contains footage of the helmet cam bowling and the kiddy pool riding that Brains mentioned. I'm sure those aren't the only crazy weather hold antics I witnessed or participated in, but I'm too tired to think of anything else right now.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.
