JankyBob 0 #1 August 14, 2006 Yesterday (Aug 13), was the anniversery of the day Shannon and I got engaged. I told the story at the Memorial Service about how we, after getting engaged, went to the horse races and the San Mateo County Fair. When we went to the races, we were late and there was just one race left (the 9th race). We ran from our car to the track and I asked Shannon what her favorite number was. She told me "6" and I told her mine was "3" and we will just go in and bet those two horses to come in 1st and 2nd, regardless of what the odds were. When we got inside we found out that the 3 and the 6 were the two longest shots on the board, but we just bet them anyway. As the horses were coming around the turn we could see that there were two horses battling for first and they were way ahead of the other horses. When they came into view we could see it was the 3 and the 6. We were really excited and we won about $150. Yesterday I just wanted to spend the day thinking about her and doing the things we did a year ago when we got engaged. I went to the horse races again just for the ninth race. It was the exact same race on the exact same day. I bet the "3" and the "6" again, just like last year. I stood in the same spot we were in the year before and almost the exact same thing happened. There were two horses out in front and once again it was the 3 and the 6! This time, I won about $100. Pretty strange shit! Bob

Being a dream, of course, it was Bizarro World. In the dream, we were at a Bizarro World version of her memorial service, which was absolutely nothing like the actual memorial service. At the Bizarro World service, several of us (myself included) started the service by reading some of Shannon's best quotes, except that it kind of fell flat because well, none of us was her! Except that while I was waiting my turn to speak, I peeked out into the audience and Shannon was there. For some reason, she was all glammed up, wearing a glittery gold dress and her hair was very blonde. She saw that some of us spotted her, and with this mischevious look on her face, she put her finger to her lips in the "Shhh" motion. Just like her to sneak into her own memorial service (at least in Bizarro World). For those of you that don't know, Shannon and I were planning on getting married in India, at a temple in the Himalayas. On October 11th I am going to India for four months and travel around with just a backpack and figure out where I am going to spread Shannon's ashes. I know some will go in the Ganges river and some will be spread at the temple we were going to get married in (of course, some will be spread in Byron and Twin Falls). She will be all over the world. I am going to be in India for the Kumbh Mela in January, which is the biggest spiritual gathering in the world. At the last Mela I think there were 7 MILLION people there. You could see it from space! I feel I am being drawn to India and to this event and I am hoping to take her ashes into the Ganges with me on the main bathing day (Jan 19th). Originally I was going to leave my video camera at home and just "experience" this myself, but now I am leaning toward getting as much footage as possible and possibly make a documentary someday about this whole experience. I will post some stories and pictures from my journey here, but I will also probably put together an email group to which I will send a more detailed account of this journey. I will post here once I get that figured out. Bless you all for your friendship, love and continued support! I miss her, I am sure you miss her much, much more. Hang in there! BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. freeflir29 0 #16 August 14, 2006 She's on my mind a lot. I cut out the memorial page from Parachutist and framed it. It'll be hanging in my DZ trailer from now on. I looked up at it yesterday as I went to go out for a jump. It was nice to see her smiling face and I hope she comes and flies with me. I could use the help. JankyBob 0 #19 August 14, 2006 There have been a lot of little things that have happened over the past two months that have kind of shifted my spiritual beliefs, but most of them were personal and wouldn't mean much to anyone other than Shannon and I. Bob
guppie01 0 #20 August 14, 2006 I would love to hear of your experiences while you are there. Please keep in touch when you can. I'm sure Shannon will be walking right beside you throughout your journey holding your hand. That is just so awesome. xoxo g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" Raddest Ho this side of Jersey #1 - MISS YOU OMG, is she okay? skyblu 0 #21 August 14, 2006 Shannon sure is lucky to have found you (and you her). Deep spiritual connections like this aren't broken after physical death. It's hearing stories like these that alters my spiritual beliefs as well. Hugs...
