The worst beer I have EVER had!!

Recommended Posts

At the Palm Beach/Del Ray Beer Festival had a jalapeño beer (sounded good at the time) just a sip and my throat was on fire, couldn't get the taste out of my mouth and my throat hurt for 2 days!! >:( It made me sick enough that I had to leave, food didnt even help wash the taste away or more beer.

The town I live in seems to have an abundance of Natty Light drinkers, because I see enough of their empty discarded cans along the side of the road! >:( buncha fucking rednecks!

I was barely legal drinking age, when a buddy of mine and I were going fishing. We stopped and got a 6-pack of 'Bud'. Put it on ice and loaded it in the boat. After awhile, we cracked one o' those icy-cold brews and took a long slug and immediately spit it out! It was 'skunky'! Worst crap I ever tried to drink. Kinda' ended the fishing expedition, too... that was all we had to drink.

Forgetting the fact that it was Budweiser, you deserved to have your fishing trip cut short for only picking up a 6-pack anyhow!

I had a similar problem once. In the Philippines, a buddy and I and these two local gals caught a boat to this island out near the mouth of Subic Bay. We took one case of Tsing-Tao with us. I think we made it till 10 AM before we cracked the case, and it was flat-out awful. Knowing there was nowhere on the island to buy beer, and the boat wouldn't be back to pick us up till like 7 PM, we tried to drink it anyhow but couldn't. Dumping the remaining 22 beers was a very sad thing. :S:(

Yeah, Lost Coast is big on spiced more-malty beers. They had a Great White at this year's Portland Brewer's Festival that was pretty spiced, not that drinkable.

>ruined the coors lite that I drank for the rest of the evening.

Like they ever taste good?

>Ever have a really bad beer that you didn't finish?

All the time. Half the IPA's at last year's brewer's festival were undrinkable. Each brewery was trying to out-hop the others. But that's what you get when you try microbrewed beer, which is what's cool about it. (And for every undrinkable IPA there's a really good chocolate porter, or belgian wheat, or balanced pale.)

The worst I've had recently is a Shinner Bock. What a shitty beer (sorry Aggiedave, its crap!).

I didn't think it was *horrible*, but it was no better or worse than Coors, Bud, or Miller. Not worth my money, but I'll drink it at the dropzone when it's free and nothing better is available.

>Undrinkable Swill:

Nothing's _truly_ undrinkable; just depends on how poor you are. (After all, water's drinkable.) Some swill I remember fondly from college:

Genessee Cream Ale (aka Green Death)
Matt's Beer
Kappy's Beer (relabeled rejected beer from a local distributor)
Hamm's
Red White and Blue (cheapest beer other than Kappy's we could find)
Stroh's Fire Brewed Beer (never figured out where 'fire' came into play in the brewing process)

Of course, back in those days, Bud in bottles was the best beer in the beer co-op in the hallway fridge.

Thats true.. You can cut open a can of Lysol, Mix it water and get drunk off it if you really wanted to.
I would put Hamms, RW&B, Shafer, Natty Light, Bush and Coors Light into that same catagory. (Never tried the others you listed.):P:D:D

too lazy to search this thread, but the two worst beers EVER were Cool Colt .45 Menthol beer and Billy Beer. Cool Colt was a beer "enhanced with the natural flavor of Menthol" - I took one sip, I would rather drink rancid vomit than ever taste that again.
Billy Beer was the "official" beer endorsed by Billy Carter (remember him? Jimmy's brother and black sheep of the family). Tasted like carbonated dishwater.
Honorable mention to Schlitz

Stroh's, was fire brewed in huge copper kettles... sales 'gimmick. Aren't most beers brewed in copper kettles? I haven't checked them all.
I've been thinking about bad beers I've had in the past. One that stands-out, aside from the 'skunky' Bud, was 'Meister Brau'. In my po' boy years, I'd get it for 99 cents an 6-pack!:D:D If, you got it cold enough and drank it fast enough... well, it was beer!:D:D

How about any Belgian beer. They taste like an old, used sweat sock.

What are you on about!? 'Stella Artois' Belgium's Original Beer, anno 1366

Also known as 'Wife beater' and a 'Nelson'

It's the best beer out there!! :S

Guinness is a stout not a beer, but definately my choice on a night out

and what is it with the Americans and 'light' drinks?
I tried Heinken Light whilst in Florida, usually a very pleasant dutch beer, but the light version tastes like water with a splash of the real stuff. yuk, and it's hard to get a decent draught out there.

The worst beer is definately Bud,i cringe when people order it when i work the bar at my DZ

>Stroh's, was fire brewed in huge copper kettles...

But I just don't get it. They're probably talking about boiling the wort, which is done in a big kettle. Using fire (i.e. an external burner) is a terrible way to do it, because that heats a kettle unevenly, and you get 'scorched' (caramelized) sugars. Most breweries use steam which is a lot easier to regulate.

>In my po' boy years, I'd get it for 99 cents an 6-pack!

Yep. Right after graduation I found that for $5.99 a case. Got that for a while before I discovered that with an actual job I could afford Bud. It took a few years to get over the "poor college student" mentality - then I finally started buying beer that was actually tasty.
