Lefty 0 #1 August 12, 2006 Hey, all. I stumbled upon the Ural motorcycles webpage the other day, and was wondering if anyone here has any info/personal experiences they'd like to share about them. They look really neat and unique, and I hear they have quite a fan base. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
shropshire 0 #2 August 12, 2006 My mate had one (in the 80's) Russian based upon captured WW2 BMWs. He had a side car on his and it even had the lugs for a gun mount. . (.)Y(.) usedtajump 1 #4 August 12, 2006 Never ridden one but have seen two in the Dallas area at different times. They must come standard with sidecars as both had them and most of the pictures I've seen of them have sidecars. Looked somewhat to a Zundapp IMO.The older I get the less I care who I piss off. bivar 0 #6 August 12, 2006 Ural motorcycles were quite popular in Norway 10-12 years ago. They are cheap, but you better be prepared to spend a lot of time being a mechanic.----------------------------------------
SkymonkeyONE 4 #7 August 13, 2006 Like someone else here said, they are mostly based on old flat-twin BMW's. The sidecar equipped rigs you can buy DO have two wheel drive though. the Sidecar wheel is driven, at least on some models. There is an old retired guy here in Z-hills that has 92 motorcycles! Most are eastern-european and german bikes. Jawas, CZ's, BMW's, Urals, etc. He's a funny motherfucker too! A polish guy with some very, very funny jokes.
