Other peoples perception of you??

...People who have known me a long time, generally know me accurately.

Peanut, I thought I knew you but every time I see you, you do something to blow my whole perception out of the water and I have to start over again....

:D:D:D

Most people think I'm stuckup and weird when they first meet me. If they get to know me they'll find out differently. At least about the stuckup part. And since I can only be me, I really don't give a rats ass what others think.

Don't really give a damn. The people that know me and the people that are respected know who I am and what I am all about. Everyone else just doesnt matter!!!!

There will always be people who don't see you the way that you are and people who flat out lie about who you are. That is their problem. As long as you are ok with you......why bother to worry about it;):P:)

Do you think other people’s perception of you is generally accurate??

Are you really anything like the person most people think you are??

In general I dont really give a shit what most people think.. But it does bother me when people have me totally wrong, Especially when it is someone I have known for a long time. I am curious how many others feel people in general just dont get them.

if you have known them for some time then their perception ofo you if quite possibkle accurate for THEM. after all it is THIER perception, not you perception of you.

My mom used to say that if one person says you're an idiot, that's thier perception, if 2 people say it it's coincidence,
if everyone says it, stop being an idiot:D:D

I am always amazed at how quickly people share confidences with me.
I'm absolutely worthy of their trust, but I have no clue how they know that about me so quickly.

I couldn't pass that one up. I really held-off for as long as I could. You forgot to mention... you have a good sense of humor, too.

: )

My children would say that my quirky sense of humor is one of my best qualities : )

"Perception" isn't reality...'nuff said.

Define reality.

Reality=truth..what about that doesn't make sense? ..and you can't take away my Birthday;)

So perhaps it's time for me to tell an old tale of Buddah....AGAIN!

So Buddah was walking in the desert for years and an antagonist followed him (lil pain in the ass) and said all of these negative things to and about Buddah..Buddah continued to walk and ignored the antagonist..then finally he stopped, turned to the guy and said "let me ask you a question...if someone offers you a gift, and you refuse to accept that gift, who then does the gift belong to?" then the antagonist replied "well of course the gift remains with the giver" ...Buddah replied with a smile "Exactly!" then continued his walk...Moral of the story is that we choose to accept the opinions of others or we can be like Buddah and leave the negativity with the miserable one trying to give it.....;) and keep moving forward into our awesome positive future.

Exactly. ;)

So to conclude:

90% of us don't really care how others perceive us, with the exception being close friends and family.

Yet we'll spend large amounts of money on getting the latest clothes. Some new Oakleys. Jumpsuits. Shine ourselves up some. The use of makeup. Visits to beauty places. 'Make ourselves look good' by various means before going to parties and celebrations or just to work. Just scraping the surface here.

All in a large extent to affect others perception of us, primarily through visual means or inference.

C'mon guys. Be honest. There's a huge distinction between "not giving a shit" about how othes perceive you and "not being that sensitive" to it.

I suspect a lot of us fall into the latter category because it's pretty hard to function well in social situations when you truly don't care how your persona and behaviour will affect future relations.

Now this post probably makes me appear as some kind of hater - which is OK because that's what I am now and then B|.

I think that probably most people's perception of me is painfully accurate. We tend to project a lot of thing unconsciously and we can probably learn a lot from analyzing people's perception of us.

I am of course deeply grateful that there are still people that I am able to fool :P

Crap crap and CRAP
perceptions can very well be a persons reality. One persons reality has little if anything to do with your reality.

Other people's opinions of me are none of my business and can only affect me if I let them. People will always think what they want, based on their own life's parameters and perceptions, and those factors may or may not allow them to see me clearly and truly. Regardless, those perceptions are truly none of my concern.

I used to live my life worrying about what other people thought and doing my best not to make anyone upset with me. Then it dawned on me that I wasn't enjoying the life I was living because I was constantly catering to everyone else's whims, perceptions and desires of what they thought I should be. That's mostly behind me now...mostly. :P
