bbarnhouse 0 #28 August 6, 2006 QuoteOne way or another we will always have to pay for the service that a bank provides, in the same way we pay for any service Service? What serivice? I walked into my bank (a large institution) and went to the customer "service" desk. I was told that I needed to call a 1-800 number. I am like "what?!" Additionally, its pretty sad when the help desk has to call a main office in order to find out what their IBAN and SWIFT code are. Don't they at least have the written down somewhere? I mean really...international wire transfers are a daily thing...even in Casa Grande!!
matthias 0 #29 August 6, 2006 I agree. I had a debit transaction cancelled on the 29th and still waiting for the funds to credit back in the account. 5-7 business days is bullsh*t._________________________________________ trance/house mixes for download: www.djmattm.com

I mean really...international wire transfers are a dialy thing...even in Casa Grande!! I was talking about the service of banking as a whole, not specifically their level of customer service. It the banks didn't make money somehow, they would cease to exist and then IBAN and SWIFT codes would be irrelevant as we would all have to carry cash around with us. And I agree - customer service sucks at many of these places as there is tendency to only train people on standard things, and IBAN/SWIFT being international is not usually considered standard so most of the staff know nothing about it! That's the joys of my job, trying to find a balance between people bright enough to understand multiple permutations of things but not so bright that they are unhappy with the pay and move on. Increasing the pay would only mean having to charge customers even more... tashDon't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. I am like "what?!" I deal with a regional, business oriented bank that has no lines, and very rarely do I need to take a seat in a longue before someone can help me. I am also remitted the atm surcharges from other banks, so the small profile doesn't hurt me. Online banking and bill pay has long been available and free, and check images were available when my group at Wells was still implementing more basic functionality. The biggest danger with these nice smaller banks is that they might be gobbled up. Citibank took over downtown SF this way. Eloy probably doesn't have much beyond a couple of the fee generators, but those in bigger cities should have options, including credit unions.

Casa Grande is growing very quickly...why there is even a Home Depot AND a Lowes The gorund has been broken on the new Wescor mall. We've arrived! Bwahhhhhhhhh Eloy on the other hand is still a sleepy little town with few services. Most of the industry that was here is gone. The major contributors to the tax base are Skydive Arizona™ and the state prison. Go figure.
Thanatos340 1 #33 August 7, 2006 QuoteOne word: "float". Yep.. I tried to do 100% of my Banking online. But here is the where the bank can really cause problems using Online Bill Pay... They "FLOAT" any money you pay bills with for about 5 days. Example: I used Bill Pay for my Child Support. The bank Automatically Mails out a $1K Check to my EX on the 10th of every month. The money is deducted from my account right then (When they send the check, Not when the Check is cashed). My ex doesn’t get the Check till the 15th, She waits a couple days to cash the check. Where is my Money for those 7 Days?? I don’t have it. She doesn’t have it?? The real problem comes when the Check doesn’t show up on time. She calls me demanding I write her another one. I have to explain, I cant.. The bank already took the money out of my account. I don’t have it. I call the bank and they say they will put a Trace on the missing Check and if it doesn’t show up in TWO WEEKS, They will put the money back into my account. After this happened twice, I gave up on this great "Modern Convenience".
