DiggerDan 0 #1 August 4, 2006 I don't watch NASCAR anymore because I think it has become increasingly dull over the years with very little passing and very few cars finishing on the lead lap, but every week I read about this guy or that guy who is mad about someone bumping him so he bumped him back or ran into him on pit road, or got into a shouting/pushing match. Every week you read quotes like, "He ran into me on purpose, so I had to pay him back." And you hear the same old story of "You hit me first." Seems to me, NASCAR drivers are just a bunch of spoiled, multi-millionaire brats, driving expensive cars around a track, whining and crying about how someone ran into them on purpose, then pouting and running their car back into that person because "they hit me first." No wonder I stopped watching it.
waltappel 1 #2 August 4, 2006 That is ridiculous. I'm proud to say that skydivers are *nothing* like that! hehehehehehehe Walt
DiggerDan 0 #3 August 4, 2006 Yeah, except for the part about being multi-millionaires and having a staff of dozens to wait on our every need, have huge sponsors knocking on our door, and our only job to drive a car around a racetrack. Other than that, pretty much the same.
grue 1 #4 August 4, 2006 NASCAR should thank xenu or whomever for the existence of drag racing, because that's the only thing keeping them from having the most boring motorsport in existence.cavete terrae.

No wonder I stopped watching it. Are you kidding? That's part of the fun of watching it! Mind you, what you see out there is nothing compared to what they used to do before NASCAR became mainstream, with every race on TV. There were legendary brawls, one involving Cale Yarborough and the Allison brothers. Those old-timers could teach today's drivers a lesson or two. micro 0 #6 August 4, 2006 if it weren't for the crashes, i'd never watch it at all. (before anyone jumps my shit, I say it tongue in cheek... i hate to see people hurt in crashes, etc etc etc...) it's a very boring "sport" I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And... Doogie320 0 #7 August 4, 2006 It went down the toilet in the 80's once the France family became more focused on advertising dollars and less on the actual product. It has also become more of an engineering challenge than one of driving. You still need a driver, but the engineering is as esential. 20 years ago drivers won races with most of the sheet metal torn off in wrecks. Try that today. The bumping, shoving, and pushing isn't a big deal. Well, it used to not be. Now if your car suffers the slightest damage or alteration to its setup you are out of the race. So, drivers tend to get the ass about it. I grew up around the sport as a fan, went to numerous races, follwed the history....it is just plain boring now. Wrestling on 4 wheels...and probably about as real. YM(in 500-mile increments)MV.

masterrig 1 #10 August 4, 2006 That's NASCAR! Been like that since day one. I get tired of Tony and Jeff whinin' all the time about rookies not respectin' the 'veteran' drivers. Then, the veteran drivers go out and do exactly what they been bitchin' about. "That's just racin' " To quote Daryl Waltrip. NASCAR racin' is great! comslayer 0 #12 August 5, 2006 You should watch Formula 1 instead, much better racing and they don't go round in stupid circles. Its no wonder why these guys are the best drivers on earth, watch the Hungarian Grand Prix on the Speed channel tomorrow morning at 7-30am EST. NASCAR - Not A Sport Created Around Rednecks.....lol
MrHixxx 0 #13 August 5, 2006 Nice point, I was going to recommend GP500 motorcycle races. No petty squabbling with guys draggin' a knee around a corner going 80 mph, 180 in the straights. I would say just one of their balls would clear the field of Nascar if you threw it into the ring playing marbles... -Hixxxdeath,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
