ACMESkydiver 0 #1 July 31, 2006 Yeah it's a crappy camera phone pic, but have you ever seen an '03 Suburban pegged out before? I hadn't before yesterday driving back from Bainbridge Island... ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

quade 4 #6 July 31, 2006 Quote did it break or were you actually crazy enough to be going that fast? She -might- be crazy enough, but the Suburban simply isn't capable of it. At least, I don't think so . . . pretty sure the gearing of the engine would prevent that.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Bolas 5 #7 July 31, 2006 Gotta love GM quality. That's a good excuse if you get pulled. Officer: Ma'am do you have any idea how fast you were going? You: 150. I'm still going that fast. Kudos for remembering to put the truck in drive for the pic though. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh. point_code 0 #10 July 31, 2006 well since your tach is reading about 1200 RPM, I'd say you were idleing in your driveway with a broken speedo.

The fact that the tach on the second picture is right at 1000 RPMs, I would venture a guess at sitting at a stoplight. If you were accelerating, the tach would be a lot higher. It never drops that low unless you are idling. Just a guess though. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise. quade 4 #13 July 31, 2006 Eh . . . idle speed, -ought- to be below 1000 rpm . . . more likely 750-800ish. She was rolling, but probably not much more than a walk.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
jkm2500 0 #14 August 1, 2006 750-800 is probably a little low if the A/C is on....which I assumed. It has been hot lately, I didnt look that closely at the pic, but nit too much above idle. And definitely not in the act of accelerating. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise. rwieder 0 #15 August 1, 2006 Your sitting still and not moving at all according to the tachometer. Plus the only way any chevrolet product that will go over 100 MPH is if it's chipped. GM chips them from the factory to a max of 100 MPH.-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
quade 4 #16 August 1, 2006 Engine isn't cold, which is usually the culprit in idle speeds above 1000 rpm (either that or just f'ed up settings). In every vehicle I've ever owned the AC only loads the engine which means it's burning slightly more fuel at idle, but the idle speed itself remains constant. Then again, maybe I don't know enough about the Suburban. Maybe it has a big assed compressor to match the rest of the vehicle and needs to idle the engine slightly fast. Meh . . . in any case, it's going pretty damn slow. I still maintain it's a "walking" pace (just slightly above idle with the brake off and maybe even no foot on the accelerator).quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Gawain 0 #19 August 1, 2006 Way to go!! I'm all about driving fast. Keep it up! Now I don't want to be a stick in the mud, but I'm going to guess that the speedo is a bit out of calibration. Most SUVs that size are governed. I don't think a 7000 pound truck is going anywhere that fast... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! ACMESkydiver 0 #21 August 1, 2006 Close, close...yeah I was coasting at approximately 20 mph. Stupid spedometer!! Last week we were on the freeway and it just kept creeping down...down...down...until it finally read '0' and stayed there the whole rest of the trip. Then it suddenly came back and was 'good' for a few days. Sunday, it started creeping up...up...and up, until it pegged and stayed there. We've shut the truck off, started it again, and it just stays pegged out. Stupid thing!!! I'm getting it fixed tomorrow, but yeah it was going to be a sweet excuse if I got pulled over until then, "I dunno, officer! Take a look for yourself! I just booked a repair appointment for it." ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
