Vodafone? Telstra? Other?

Well it depneds on what sort of coverage you want, if you want the best coverage you need to go with Telstra CDMA other wise all the others on the Digital network are pretty much the same.

However in 2 years CDMA will be phased out and 3Mobile will take over:)

Well, I refuse to use CDMA just on general principle but out of the GSM providers, who's typically known for the best rate plans? I don't even know who's still around since I left.

I have to use CDMA, because Iit the only one that get reception at the DZ.
However from I have have seen either Vodaphonoe or Virgin, would be the btter priced plans
Vodaphone was who I was with before CDMA

My rule of thumb is that anyone who'll have a legitimate need to get ahold of me at the DZ will know how to get ahold of the DZ :D

But I'll check out the coverage maps and stuff, if Vodafone covers Nagambie I'm sure I'll go with them.

Vodafone's GSM network is crap outside the major metropolitan centres. For example, there's no coverage at Toogoolawah.

Telstra & Optus are pretty good, and Virgin Mobile uses Optus' network. 3 mobiles roam to Telstra's network when the UMTS network isn't available.

Vodafone are just about ok. If you can get a better deal somewhere else, do so.

/off the top of my head. I'm jetlagged, so facts may be wrong.

Optus and Telstra both work at Nagambie and Toogoolawah.

Telstra - best coverage
Vodaphone - best deal. Crap service, no good outside built up areas.
Optus - good enough coverage

I use Virgin which uses the Optus network.

If ya belive the stats published by the gov people they areall good, less than 1% drop out on a call due to poor coverage CRAP!!!!!! I think the zero fell of the figger!!!!

Vodafone = .4%
Telstra = .6%
Optus = .7%

If ya want real coverage go with globelstar sat phones but then leave the country befor ya gotta pay the bill
As for the $s they are all in the same ball park just check em for specials when ya get here

I've just checked around & decided to ditch Vodafone. Vodafone have good pre-pay deals, but you can't roam and the number of international calls you can make are seriously limited. Their post-pay deals aren't all that good.

Virgin Mobile has much better deals for those that need to make international calls & roam occasionally. Plus they'll sell me a W810i for $600 over 24 months with only a six-month lockin.

Dude, I can just bring one over with me for you, or post it. THey're $300 US, brand new and unlocked. I'll be ordering one for myself reasonably soon anyway, so we could just combine orders.

I've just chucked my K750i due to repeated persistent failures of the joystick (lovely phone otherwise). I am not buying another SE phone without an Australian warranty.

Fair enough. B|

I'm using an S700i right now, I should be able to recoup at least 1/2 of the cost of the W810i by selling it. I love it, but it's too bulky, and isn't quadband. The W will be my, uh, 5th SE? Something like that. I won't use anything else.
