So if you were on a commercial airliner with your rig, and it did the Aloha Airlines convertible trick...

some of the folks got ejected

no shit there I was in freefall, saw the overhead compartment, tracked over, opened the door, got out my gear bag, put on my rig and opened - finally drowned in the middle of the Pacific, should have spent a jump ticket on swimming lessons

I always get emergency exit seating for just such an occassion.:SB|

On my way back from Eloy, we hit some nasty turbulence over the Rockies. I was in the emergency row, window seat... the guy in the middle seat kept looking at my rig under the seat in front of me, and then at the door. :D:D

I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

suddenly that crap about - all passengers should remain seated with their seatbelt securely fastened - makes sense - just in case the lid blows off this thing

Well, since you would have had your rig in the overhead, I would say it is safe to assume you wouldn't have an option. If for some stroke of luck you did have your rig next to you, the only way you are staying in that plane is to stya seatbelted in. So standing up, putting your rig on and jumping out is pretty much not gonna happen.

I keep mine under the seat in front of me, I don't want some clownhole to pull a handle getting her gucci bag ;)

ANyway, apparently the air crew could move around to get to people when it happened as long as they stayed low B|

A couple of missed points . . .

If you jump and live and then something unrelated to your jump brings the plane down and kills everyone - guess who's gonna get the blame - that's right - you!

Also, Aloha Airlines is an inter-island carrier and chances are if you survived the exit you'd wind up shark bait anyway . . .
