mdrejhon 8 #1 July 10, 2006 News regarding Rainbow Boogie at NouvelAir in Montreal (Friday July 28th to Monday July 31st)! For more information, see www.rainbowskydive.com/news! ... Over 100 attending... The good news is we are a major Canadian boogie now! There has been significant interest. Several foreigners are coming too (NZ, UK, Europe, Brazil, USA...) Of the registrants, about 50+ confirmed (airfares booked!), then we have the Canadians coming up that haven't registered, plus we've got attendees from the Montreal Pride and OutGames, and we've got the regular dropzone attendees. So well over 100 attending! And about 25% of the attendance is straight! (It's not just exclusively for gays...) Load Organizing by 4WayXena... Kirsten Johnson (Spaceland AFFI) will organize small 4-ways for the novices, and also 20-ways for the "World's Biggest Queer Formation Skydive". (We might even get NouvelAir use more than 1 plane simultaneously for this -- depending on interest). Yes, a FEMALE load organizer! Hear this! (Hmmm...This must be why 25% of our attendance is straight!) Don't forget to book airfare!... You can fly into Montreal (30 minutes away) or Burlington, Vermont (1 hour away). JetBlue serves Burlington too. You can get last minute fare deals to that city as well. Pickups are available -- I am willing to come pick you up in Montreal and/or Burlington on July 27th. The free BBQ on July 28th... I've scheduled the free BBQ for Friday lunch, July 28th. Food will be always available for sale at the restaurant from July 28th to 31st, but the BBQ will be sponsored for the lunch of July 28th! NouvelAir facilities... Also, I made my first visit to NouvelAir and really had a great time! They had even printed flyers for the event. I got to talk to Martin at NouvelAir and took a tour of the dropzone. - There is now a RESTAURANT on the dropzone! No need to leave the dropzone to eat! - Two video debrief areas in the restaurant - Free WiFi Internet access. - Bunkhouse (limited rooms, let me know if you need space) - Indoor packing area - Bonfire pit - Free camping - All four planes will fly if necessary Tshirts and embroidered patches...The 3-inch embroidered logo patches are here now! The T-Shirts are still being worked on at the moment. Photos of these items are at www.rainbowskydive.com/supporters.html ... They can be purchased or picked up at the Rainbow Boogie event! PS... Don't forget to post if you are coming to the boogie!

4WayXena 0 #6 July 11, 2006 Wow! 100 People! Holy Cow! I will be there. And I will be booking flights for tomorrow. 4ways will definitely be on tap for the novice jumpers. 8ways will be the warmups to the first all Queer TeXXas Star. Then we will work on some other stuff if that works out. Also, fun jumping is encouraged! You don't have to be on an organized load to have a blast! mdrejhon 8 #12 July 11, 2006 QuoteShouldn't this be in events? Some boogie organizer post their own main thread here (i.e. WFFC, etc.). Other boogies organizers have it in Events. You've seen this over time... Technically, I wanted to have both, but since I can't initiate active threads in both forums (crosspost issue), I've decided to use Bonfire. I asked about this already -- the moderators here (skymama) told me I can do either area but not both simultaneously.
 freeflir29 0 #13 July 11, 2006 Quotethe moderators here (skymama) told me I can do either area but not both simultaneously. OK........I wasn't fucking with you. Just thought it would do more good over there as posts tend to get "lost" in the clutter of Bonfire. In contrast, an earlier Bonfire thread was extremely popular with many thousands of views. So, I have gotten in the habit of using Bonfire for the extra traffic. As a related note - there is an interesting statistic: 75%+ of our attendance apparently don't seem to be dropzone.com members. (Believe it or not!) I guess it is partly because of the worldwide nature of our boogie (seven known countries represented!) due to our unique nature of our boogie. dropzone.com membership has lower penetration in many countries...
