skydiverbrian 0 #26 July 13, 2006 Put me on the list. Tickets purchased, hotel confirmed, reserve repacked. And work already knows I'll be sick that week. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
mdrejhon 8 #27 July 14, 2006 An interesting tidbit about Rainbow Boogie... One of the most unusual First Jump visitors to Rainbow Boogie is a person from Phillipines. He is visiting an international LGBT conference in Montreal that is happening near the time of Rainbow Boogie. He has already purchased a tandem - more than a full month's salary! He registered in April. Because of extenuating circumstances (this is a huge amount of money to him...) I tried to convince him that maybe going to Russia or somewhere in Easturn Europe, may allow a tandem at half price or less. However, he was really interested in doing it at this event because he rarely travels outside his country, and he is in Montreal for an international human rights conference . He is reserved to do his jump on July 31st. Needless to say, I think they deserves video, because clearly this a once-in-a-lifetime event for him! But video (CDN$95) costs this guy a full month's apartment rent. Ouch! I'm in the process of finding a discount for him, maybe get it subsidized or sponsored! (from the sales of T-Shirts at the boogie).
Stripes 0 #28 July 15, 2006 Unfortunately I won't be able to join (no money). But I hope you'll have lots of fun
 skydiverbrian 0 #29 July 15, 2006 QuoteI won't be able to join (no money) If this event is like any other skydiving event, girls don't need money - they just need boobies. A little flash of 'the girls' here and there gets you altitude, pack jobs, dinner, and somewhere to sleep. Of course, this being a gay boogie, maybe now the guys can finally get something in return for flashing 'the boys'. A group of 7 friends is coming from Texas (mixed skydivers, gay and straight) and a group of 10 friends is coming from Richmond, Virginia (mixed skydivers too). I am told one of the skydivers, coming with the Richmond group, is a straight girl that has 15,000 jumps. (FYI, if you want to attend and if you are a Texan, contact Kirsten Johnson of Skydive Spaceland. If you are Virginian, contact Jason Whitt, president of Skydive The West Point. They are part of the respective 'groups' coming to visit. Within these, some are travelling separately to rendezvous, and some are flying together. A carpool is being set up from Burlington, Vermont airport this July 27th -- just 1 hour away from the NouvelAir dropzone right by the Canadian border, and cheaper than flying direct to Montreal) Should be a real blast! Given the crap NZ$ to CDN$ exchange rate, CDN$35 equates to NZ$50 which is a bit painful If anyone wants to club together and buy a big block of jump tickets, I'd be keen. I'll jump some 4-ways since I want to make sure the RW novices are taken care of too. (skill level depending, of course) Can't leave them out -- I will skip out on some of the bigways in order to jump with some of the novices. Possibly a 50-50 split between the bigway jumping and the novice jumping. Forecast looks good -- no rain on all 4 days! Got a lot of work to do this coming Wednesday and Thursday to get ready for the big event! PS... For others wishing to contribute money for T-Shirt or patches, check out www.rainbowskydive.com/supporters.html )... The good news is we are now almost at break even for the costs of the event!
