Dropzone and Dropzone.com flirting

Recommended Posts

Ok...so this is something that a friend and I were discussing at work last night. She was asking a ton of questions about DZ's and somehow we got on the topic of flirting. She was curious how much flirting happens when you're "risking your life." :D

:D I told her that flirting is very common, but that my thoughts were most people would choose the "mean nothing by it" option. She said that she wonders how many people really mean something by it.

Now, I know that flirting happens at DZ's and *gasp* DZ.com :D, but how many people really mean anything by it?

I mean nothing by it and many times it's stupid inside jokes like YH's abs avatar from a few years back. I can see how others who don't know about the inside jokes can misunderstand. Bottomline if in a relationship, there should be confidence and trust in the relationship that what matters is who you go home to and spend most of your quality time with. Just my one cent.

BTW...on this topic, perhaps HappyThoughts will interject some perspective from "The Art of Flirting" course:D

Flirting is very common and it usually means nothing. My SO is a huge flirt. I dont get upset when he flirts with other women, as long as he flirts with me, too. But if someone took his flirting to mean something else, I'd expect him to set it straight. Otherwise, its all in good fun.
;)
.. and the more I type the word 'flirt', the more strange of a word it becomes.. :D

Hottie says Im one of the biggest flirts she knows.
I say, Im not a flirt, its just how I act.
So the answer would be: mean nothing by it. We have a larger percentage of awsome skychickies at our DZ and in the ATL area. We all hang together, party together, and sometimes (when were too drunk to drive) crash together.
its not about anything other than fun.
Lots of the ladies at our DZ are also spoken for or married, so theres lots of back and forth.

I love our DZ. B|

Flirt - Flirt - Flirt - - Yeah it is a weird little word, ain't it? I like to flirt - It's fun - And sometimes it can lead to bigger and better things, no? Hasn't flirting been used as a playful way for two persons to show interest in each other?

On the DZ - Yeah I could see where an "outsider" (for lack of a better term) could think half of us are boinking the other half - - -

My expereince - over my lifetime, 95% of the flirting I've been involved in has been nothing more than flirtation - But there has been a few occasions where it's led to much more - But without the two of us flirting in the first place, nothing more whould have developed.

Question perhaps, how does two persons' flirtation become two people falling madly in bed with each other?

Flirt - One of the weirdest little words we've grown to know and love - - !

I completely agree with you on this. Im a big flirt myself but I mean nothing by it. I love going to the dz and just having a good time. That is exactly what it is and nothing else. That's my personality and if the SO doesnt realize that and know its nothing but fun then they dont really know you at all.

That's a tough question to answer... generally when I'm flirting I don't mean anything by it... but like Dumpster pointed out Flirting can also often lead to actual interest... (as long as both parties are single...)

I particularly enjoy complementing people because it can make someone feel better... :$ and when I complement someone I do mean it... :)

I'd say more than half the time, I'm serious (or I guess, "given the opportunity" . . .). I just don't have it in me to flirt if I don't find someone attractive.

And how attractive I find them usually changes from the beginning of the night to the end of it. It doesn't always increase, though. Sometimes people become less and less attractive as the night goes on. ;)

Yeah, me too. I don't mean nothing by it, but I don't mean SOMETHING either...

I mean, "You're cute" or "You're funny in a cute way" or "I'm just dishing it back" or "I know you are but what am I" ;)

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

I'd agree. I mean, I was starting to feel a little unconfortable at Eloy with all the attention you were giving me...

"Mean nothing by it" and "if given the oppurtunity" aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. ;)

Well, supposedly being in a highly arousing activity, like skydiving--makes one attracted to others even more so. I read a psychology book that mentioned this, since an element of danger, associated with a person, brings more attraction?

Too much flirting and it will really start to piss off a lot of the guys and girls at the DZ. A little bit of flirting isn't bad. Dating at the DZ? I really believe if you're going to date a skydiver, date 2 DZs over. Not the DZ next to your buts the one past that. Why? So when you break up you don't have a assload of drama at your DZ screwing the vibe for everyone!

Look who's talking, Mr. "I married a skydiver."

She wasn't a jumper when we met. She started jumping after we had been dating for a bit since she thought it looked interesting and she had been hanging out at the DZ with me for a while.:)
How many BAD drama skydiver that dates skydiver relationships have you seen on a DZ? I've seen a few, I've also seen good people end up quiting the sport over the drama and everything that happened when they broke up.

I have nothing against dating skydivers, just use the 2 DZ rule. That way when yall break up, the drama doesn't superheat and melt the DZ. Yall still get to go jump each weekend without worrying about the BS and the other person being there.
