Shell666 0 #1 July 15, 2006 So, I can download tunes to my iTunes but when I go to update my iPod, only the songs that don't have an "!" beside them update to the iPod (I have an iPod nano). Is anyone familiar with using an iMac and an iPod nano that can help me out? All the tunes are in my library and play on the iMac. I'd appreciate any help! (I have to drive to LP and would really like the tunes in the Jeep!) 'Shell'Shell

kbordson 8 #4 July 15, 2006 When I bought songs from iTunes, it downloaded them to the library and to the recently purchased files. I had to drag them to my favorite folder and then when I plugged in my iPod, I just made sure that they had a check in the box. I don't remember seeing any exclamation point. This was from iTunes Help (pull down scroll on the top of the screen) Copying songs to an iPod, iPod nano, or iPod mini By default, when you connect an iPod, iPod nano, or iPod mini to your computer, iTunes automatically copies the songs and playlists in your iTunes library to your iPod, and deletes songs from your iPod that aren't in your library. You can also set up iTunes to automatically copy only certain songs or playlists, or to allow you to copy songs manually. You may want to choose one of these options if you have more music on your computer than will fit on your iPod. If you want to use your iPod with more than one computer, set iTunes to allow you to copy songs manually. When you automatically update iPod on another computer, songs from the first computer are deleted from iPod. If you have a third-party music player, you can only copy songs to it manually. For information about copying songs to iPod shuffle, click "Tell me more." • To automatically update your iPod, iPod nano, or iPod mini with all the songs in your library, first connect your iPod to your computer. When it appears in the Source list, choose iTunes > Preferences and click the iPod button. Click the Music button and make sure "Automatically update all songs and playlists" is selected. Then make sure the "Only update checked songs" checkbox is deselected. • To automatically update your iPod, iPod nano, or iPod mini with only certain songs, select the checkboxes next to the songs you want to copy in the iTunes window. Then connect your iPod to your computer and when it appears in the Source list, choose iTunes > Preferences and click the iPod button. Click the Music button and make sure "Automatically update all songs and playlists" is selected. Then select the "Only update checked songs" checkbox. • To automatically update your iPod, iPod nano, or iPod mini with only selected playlists, first connect your iPod to your computer. When it appears in the Source list, choose iTunes > Preferences and click the iPod button. Click the Music button and select "Automatically update selected playlists only," and then select the playlists you want to copy. • To copy songs manually from your iTunes library to your iPod, iPod nano, or iPod mini, first connect your iPod to your computer. When it appears in the Source list, choose iTunes > Preferences and click the iPod button. Click the Music button and select "Manually manage songs and playlists." Then drag songs from your library or playlist to iPod in the Source list. • If you connect and update your iPod, and then add songs to your iTunes library that you want to add to your iPod, choose File > Update iPod. If you have more than one iPod connected to your computer, make sure you choose the iPod whose settings you want to change from the pop-up menu at the top of the iPod pane. Note: You cannot copy songs or playlists from iPod to iTunes.
Shell666 0 #5 July 15, 2006 Quotethe songs that have an exclamation point play? Usually that means that the file is missing. Yep. I had to manually "get info" on each song and update it from there. Very weird as the songs appeared in my library and in the iTunes folder. But it seems to be working now. Thanks for the help, everyone!'Shell
