Zipp0 1 #1 July 14, 2006 Never heard of it until they started banning it today. Now I want to try it! And I can use the boat I am currently restoring to pull the thing... http://www.youtube.com/results?search=kite+tube&search_type=search_videos&search=Search -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. Zipp0 1 #3 July 14, 2006 There is a consumer product safety voluntary recall on the WEGO brand tube, and state parks are banning them left and right. Evidently, people are getting seriously F'd up on them But falling from this thing at 30 ft. traveling 45 mph does sound painful. But hell, it looks like fun! -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.
DJL 235 #4 July 14, 2006 I'm surprised this thing even got out the door. I've been on waterskiies since I was 6 years old and I know what hard biffs on the water feel like. Falling from 30 ft up at 45 mph is enough to break you. I still want one."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

PhreeZone 20 #6 July 14, 2006 These things are going the way of the 3 wheelers.. get one now while there is still one to find in good shape. I'll stay off, I was looking at the lawsuit inspired websites and for a product thats been on the market for a year its got a nice track record of 39 life threatening injuries and 2 deathes. Broken bones are piling up too... Makes that Velocity at 50 jumps seem a bit safer in comparison. skydemon2 0 #7 July 14, 2006 I think 2 broken necks so far this year in Wisconsin I think atleast 1 died. They are rated at lik 15-20 mph and people are towing them 35-45 mph and upBeauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone! I like to start my day off with a little Ray of Soulshine™!! Zipp0 1 #9 July 14, 2006 Sounds like maybe people are downsizing too quickly.... I'd bet it could be done very safely if you used short ropes to start, and built skills very slowly. It seems like people are just throwig caution to the wind, thinking "It's only water." But those are grim statistics. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.
skydemon2 0 #10 July 14, 2006 maybe it needs to be redisgned with more lift so it would fly at lower speeds...... Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone! I like to start my day off with a little Ray of Soulshine™!!
PhreeZone 20 #11 July 14, 2006 Thats a great idea... then when Joe the boat driver has a few beers and takese this out and goes 35 mph they can reach 100 feet instead of just 50 now Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Zipp0 1 #12 July 14, 2006 Quotemaybe it needs to be redisgned with more lift so it would fly at lower speeds...... GENIUS Maybe it could be designed like one of those ground effect watercraft. Those things seem pretty stable. And the lower speed would allow you to go much higher with good safety. But at some point doesn't it just become parasailing? -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.
Buried 0 #13 July 14, 2006 these vids are crazy (last 5 sec) OUCH! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H0k9Uvt2os (stupid guy) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4L5WSZyxJ9c Quote the Sportsstuff Wego Kite Tube is a 10-foot-wide, circular, yellow inflatable watercraft designed to be towed behind a power boat. A rider in the tube becomes airborne by pulling on handles attached to the floor of the tube. Model 53-5000 is printed on the tube near the product valve. The floor of the tube has black caution warning stripes. The cover for the product bears a skull and crossbones and the statement “Never Kite higher than you are willing to fall.” The tubes were imported and sold through marine distributors, mail order catalogs, and various retailers from approximately October 1, 2005 to July 11, 2006 for about $500 to $600. grue 1 #19 July 14, 2006 Yeah, I wanna try one. Banning products is so freaking stupid. Helps clean the gene pool a bit, just like Lawn Darts did. Just because some mealy mouthed crotch pheasant can't use something responsibly doesn't mean it should be banned.cavete terrae.
