fallinwoman had surgery today...

Recommended Posts

She did great. fixed the ACL, yanked a third of her patellar tendon off to make it, then fixed some other bits n pieces here and there. all is well...although she's hurting like hell. and I'm stuck at the firehouse.

What is odd though is how scared I was when she was in there...never thought i'd get so worked up over her going under the knife. I think i was more freaked out than her...even if she never knew it. had to show a strong front for my bride.

Oh..and thanks again to sangiro for introducing us 4yrs ago.

peace to all,

Heal fast, Anne, and Marc, I understand about the standing by and being more scared than the patient...it's really hard to watch someone you love get surgery, even minor stuff.

Best to you both, as always.

It's easy for us! Stone cold out with a general.

At least until a few hours later (or 4.5 days for me)

Heya Marc! Give her a big huge hug from me. You take damn good care of her or I will have to come down there and kick ure ass....

It will hurt the first few days, make sure she takes her meds!

Marc,

Give Anne our best wishes and tell her to be sure to work her tail off in PT. It will be rough, but worth it.

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

Andy started having morbid thoughts about me when my doctor didn't fetch him from the waiting room after my 3+ hour shoulder surgery. Thought I had died on the operating room table and the doctors were figuring out how to break the news. Still not sure if it was wishful thinking or not. :S ;)

Give Anne (and yourself) a great big hug from us. Heal fast! Tell her to have fun in physical therapy! I love my ACL repair patients--they're the most fun! :)

exactly!!!! My problem is I know too much due to my profesion. It doesn't help matters. Plus there is the whole I'm there to protect her thing.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I am certainly in pain. My first PT session is later today.

Marc got a little freaked out because they told him it was a 2 hour surgery....and the doc finally came out after three hours. Apparently I had done more damage than the MRI revealed.

I cannot wait to see my scars today.

And right now Marc is having oral surgery. My mom is with him while I wait at her house. We are having a rough week!

Don't know her but nonetheless I wish her a speedy recovery. By the way if this is her first surgery then I think somebody owes beer.

That's exactly what happened with my shoulder surgery. It was supposed to be around 1.5 hours, and it ended up lasting over 3 because I had a bigger tear than expected. Even after the surgery was over, my doc kinda forgot to get Andy. Oops.

As others have said, work your butt off in PT. Knee repair patients are some of the best because it's so rewarding to see the dramatic improvements from week to week. :)
Edited to add: Take your pain meds before your PT sessions!
