skymama 37 #1 July 5, 2006 Any other fans out there watching the matches this week? I've always enjoyed watching tennis and one of the biggest thrills I had last year when I went to England was going to the tennis club and seeing a few matches being played. The only bad thing is that there are no Americans left! Come to think of it, there are no Americans winning anything. We're out of the WC, no one is left in Wimbledon and we couldn't even manage winning the Hot Dog Eating contest yesterday. Where have all of our sports stars gone? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Slappie 9 #5 July 5, 2006 Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff has been thrown out of Wimbledon after being refused entry to the players' bar. According to reports, the 53-year-old became aggressive when he was turned away while attempting to buy a drink. Witnesses told the Daily Mirror that the actor started shouting, saying: "All I want is a drink! Do you know who I am?!" Wimbledon's official statement was simply that the incident was "dealt with by security", although staff say they were instructed not to admit him to bars and restaurants "under any circumstances". A member of the tennis club's security team revealed: "He was absolutely steaming and being very abusive. He was ejected from the ground and told not to bother coming back." The star has battled problems with alcohol in the past, and spent time at the Betty Ford clinic in 2002 in an attempt to overcome them. We at least hide our drug use better than the others.[Shocked][Shocked] Well our David Millar didn't hide it very well. Just hope he's clean now that he's served his suspension. Interesting link between the two competitions - A French paper reported that Rafael Nadal (world tennis No2) was connected to the doping scandal, the spanish gov't then stated that the police had only found evidence that cyclists were involved (Nadal is getting ready to sue the paper), but then Dr Fuente (while defending the legality of his methods) stated that he had, in fact, treated spanish tennis players and 1st division football teams. I just hope that everyone who is involved get the proper sentances. Bloody cheatsDo you want to have an ideagasm?

skykittykat 0 #14 July 5, 2006 Dammit, Hewitt just lost his quarter final match against Baghandis Federer is through to the semi finals (as expected). As for Americans still at Wimbledon - there is John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors and Tracey Austin commentating on the BBC coverage Actually, I think Tracey Austin is playing in the over 35's singles or doubles. lawrocket 3 #18 July 5, 2006 QuoteThe only bad thing is that there are no Americans left! Actually, watching women's tennis used to be such a wonderful thing. Tracey Austin, Evert-Lloyd - it was great. Then, Monica Seles came on board, and the grunters took over women's tennis, making it difficult to watch a match with any volume. skykittykat 0 #23 July 5, 2006 Quotesee, your back to english men in shorts again. Did you hear about the streaker at wimbledon Was watching the live coverage on BBC and they showed the whole thing . They didn't suddenly cut to adverts (not that they could as the BBC is funded by everyone who has a tv with no need for advertisers), rather they decided to let it roll as it was a quirky part of Wimbledon. It was very funny and all the security guards at Wimbledon were laughing their asses off before they went over with a blanket to cover the guy (where is a streaker going to conceal a knife or gun????).
