Superman Returns

Dude, I just pissed myself. I was so psyched to hear they were going to keep the original Marlon Brando footage for Jor-El, and I'd been wondering if they'd go with the classic John Williams score. Hearing both in that trailer made me feel kind of funny, like when we used to climb the rope in gym class.

I loved the throwbacks to the earlier Superman films, but honestly, the movie bored me. The characters aren't as much fun as they were in the earlier films, and it doesn't have the same tongue-in-cheek humor as the original. If anything, this new film takes itself too seriously.

I will grant that this film makes more sense than Superman II, even if it's not as good. And it's definitely better than Superman IV.

I've never really been a huge Superman fan but I enjoyed the film. It wasn't spectacular but I didn't think it sucked either. It's certainly no Batman Begins or XMen2/Spidey2 but it's one of the better superhero movies out there IMO. I preferred it over any of the old Superman movies and really enjoyed the homage paid to the originals.

I'd say go watch it in the theaters realizing it'll be fun but nothing out of this world.

Nice one Ian, must agree with you that BM Returns set a benchmark for other superhero films to live up to. I thought that Spidey 2 sucked ass though, still that's not the debate here and the trailer for the new one looks badass! :)

Not really saying much there. Goonies was a better movie than Superman IV. Catwoman was a better movie, for God's sake!:S:P

I liked it. He sounded like Reeves as well.

It was corny, but it is a movie about a guy in tights that can fly and all.

I liked it too, (and I remember the TV series when it was NEW). Mind you, I did see it at a drive-in movie after a few margaritas

I didn't care for it. They should've left a lot of things unanswered and unsaid. But the movie hit you over the head with every plot element. Even the dramatic moments screamed "something dramatic is happening" at you, just in case you had the IQ of a 5 year old or had never seen a movie or read a book before.

I kinda think they were going for the people who had never seen the old movies or read the comic books.

The original was 1978 and IV was 1987. 28 and 19 years respectively. They need a new group of fans. I'll admit it was corney, but so were the originals and the TV series...I mean George would stand there and let the bad guys shoot at him, but then the bad guy would throw the gun and Georgie would duck???? :S

I think they are looking for a new audience. I liked the "throwbacks" to the original like Brando as Jor-El.
