The blood vessels supplying each side have roots in different vessels and at different heights. For fun, you can make things different on men using the "cremasteric reflec." Massage one o the inner thighs of the man and watch shrinkage occur on that one side. Then switch to the other, and watch the first side drop while the new side picks up.
