Cool airplanes

Recommended Posts

Two biplanes just flew past my window, no more than 100 yards away. One was a little white Pitts. The other was some antique with a radial engine, in yellow paint with "US Navy" markings.

I thought it was a very nifty surprise and wanted to share. That's all.:)

Spitfires in the air would certainly brighten up a day.:)
I'm looking forward to Oshkosh. The shop I work at is close enough to the big show that we can expect some unusual traffic every year. Two summers ago a B-24 was parked on our ramp for a few days.B| I was told that was the world's only remaining B-24 in airworthy condition.

Last Independence Day I got out of bed bright and early in order to catch a ride in a B-25.:)

Your not wrong there, we have all kinds of old military aircraft around here aswell as all your typical American fighter/bomber jets from RAF Lakenheath.

I get a nice variety around here :)

People aint made of nothin' but water and shit.

Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.

Gotta disagree with you here. While the spitfire undoubtedly makes the "top five" list of beautiful airplanes, the winner has to be the Hughes H-1. I got to inspect the perfect replica that was built a few years ago, and that lady was flawless in every detail.:)
So sad that it crashed and the owner died.:( Loss of a good man and the flying art he created.

I am taking a guess that the other plane was a Stearman ggrrr. That one in my favorite airplane actually. One day I am going to own a red Stearman, and her name will be Betsy.

Hmm but as far as planes go, I would have to say anything from P-40s to Pea Shooter...

ohhh check out

now those are real planes ;)

Was it one of these?. Lovely aircraft, apparently they drink oil like an SUV drinks petrol;).

Still, one of my favourite old biplanes has to be this lovely piece of english engineering - and I've jumped oneB|.
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Bastard.

Still the most beautiful aeroplane ever built, methinks.

And what better sound than a smooth running Merlin or Griffon roaring overhead:)).

Oh yeah, and just for laughs here is the video of possibly the best ever low flyby - see if you can spot it coming. Fuck me!
