Which beer to buy for the DZ...a guide

After the Great International Beer Festival, all the brewery presidents decided to go out for a beer. The guy from Corona sits down and says, "Hey, señor, I would like the world's best beer, a Corona." The bartender takes a bottle from the shelf and gives it to him. The guy from Budweiser says, "I'd like the best beer in the world, 'the king of beers,' a Budweiser." The bartender gives him one. The guy from Coors says, "I'd like the only beer made with Rocky Mountain spring water. Give me a Coors." He gets it. The guy from Shiner sits down and says, "Give me a Coke." The bartender is a little taken aback, but gives him what he ordered. The other brewery presidents look over at him and ask, "Why aren't you drinking a Shiner?" The Shiner President replies, "I figured if you guys aren't drinking beer, neither would I."

That should answer your questions. Just buy Shiner.B|

So how do we convince J that the beer tub at Skyfest should be filled with Shiner???

Don't know...then again, the last time we were drinking beer together he was drinking Bud Light over the New Castle that we had as well. He's an odd man with a taste for cheap beer.:D

The AOT Boogie always has Shiner Bock. On tap, actually...then again, the AOT Boogie is at Aggieland and Aggieland has Shiner Bock on tap.B|

No Shiner Bock up here in the Pac Northwest. [:/] We get by with a little Henry Weinhards from Oregon or Red Hook Ale made in Seattle. Samuel Adams is nationwide, and making all kinds of good brews, too. And if it's winter time, drop by my place for a little home brewed.:)
Beers are like women, light, dark, heavy or not, you may have your favorite, but they are all delicious.B|:$

Good one Dave. Heard that one somewhere else, only it was the President of Guiness in a delightful Oirish brogue.

We DO in fact have Shiner here in So Cal and I tried some on your recommende, it's good stuff. Around here Sam Adams seems to be a good crowd pleaser at the dropzone, to almost everyone's tastes. But in Corona's defense, I gotta say after the beastly hot day we had at Elsinore yesterday, the Corona somebody handed me at day's end sure was welcome. The hotter the weather, the lighter I like my beers, in the gray chill of winter I like 'em dark and heavy.

I'll be bringing Shiner, of course.... and probably the obligatory Gentleman Jack and Patron.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to bring the last of the Shiner '96 I have stashed....

Oooh, what's the difference? I first started drinking Shiner Bock in '94, drank it fairly regularly till '97 (went to my first and only Bocktoberfest in 1997, even), then went through a major dry spell (only having it on occasional visits to the east coast) till they started selling it in Washington in 2004. Did it change at some point in there? Or was that a special brew?

It's a special brew... they're doing one per year until their 100th year...

Last year was 97... this year will be 98...

Ah, okay, I was thinking it was related to the year it was brewed. Very cool! (Want to send one up my way? :D)
