Have any of you ridden the 2006 YZF-R6 with the fly by wire throttle and new design?

I have a 2000 Honda CBR600F4 - the year BEFORE fuel injection.:(... I love it... I have not wanted to spend money on a new bike... But some little bug has got into me and I am looking...

I am thinking of either the R6 - or the Honda CBR600RR - but since I ride sometimes with Hooknswoop I don't want to copy his ride. Just kidding - actually, I thought it might be nice to try something else out - and I am not a Kawi or Suzuki fan, not that I have anything wrong with them....:P

Take different bikes out for test rides and get a feel for them. You might really like one over the other.

Now that would make sense...

When I got my CBR600F4 - I had about 1 motorcycle training class and 1 hour of driving my friends F3 in a parking lot and side streets in experience... So, I purchased it on recommendations, and because I liked my friends F3 and the F4 turned out to be much better... Thank god the first 500 miles I had to keep the RPMs down, because that is how I learned to ride.:P

And - I pretty much was told by the dealer that test rides were not part of their MO on sport bikes when I asked...

So, now that I have about twenty thousand miles under my belt, I guess I might be a little more trustworthy to ask for a test drive.

What are your experiences in test riding bikes??? Do they normally have a loaner on the floor that people can take for an hour or so - or what? I just never have seen anyone test ride a bike from all my trips to the dealers...

I do not know why but I found that the fuel injected bikes I have ridden (R6 and GSXR 600) are gas guzzlers compared to my YZF600. I asked two motorcyle dealers and they said that the fuel injected bikes use more gas.

When I first got my F4 - $4.50 would fill her up... I just spent $15 the last time I went to the station... Wow, how things changed in a few years...

I would never consider buying a bike without a road test first.... Clearly, it's easier for the dealer on second hand bikes, but they should always be able to get you a demo from their supplier... or I'd go elsewhere.

Depends - fuel injected bikes have a much greater ability to keep an even air/fuel ratio than carbureted motorcycles do. Even more so if you live or ride at higher elevations since the ECU can compensate for changes in atmosphere.

Fuel Injected bikes often run rich from the factory but, a Power Commander with a custom map will take care it for you.

When my Triumph Sprint was in for its first service/ check up... The owner told me to go ride some bikes as would take a couple hours.... So, I grabed his Daytona 675:)
If I were looking for a .6 liter bike:ph34r: (600cc) I would get the Triumph, but the 600rr and R6 are both excellent bikes

I have a 2003 YZF600R and absolutely love it for its comfort. It still has a lot of get up and go especially in the higher RPMs. Makes me wonder... do I really want to upgrade to a R1 for my next bike. Hell yes I do! :D

What kind of mileage does yours get? Mine gets 40-45 mpg in the city, 55-60 on the freeway as long as I'm behind the windshield.

From the big 4 of Japan - good luck. It's extremely rare that a dealer will do it. Bike shows are a maybe.

One reason I bought two BMWs and a Triumph.

True. Also, you will need the Power Commander if you replace the exhaust system.

I Georgia it is hard to find a motorcycle dealer that will allow a test ride on a street bike. But if you do a little shopping on Cycletrader.com you may find a few that will let you test ride.

I am partial to the Honda even though I also like the Suzuki, Kawasaki, & Yamaha. I prefer the CBR600F4I. You can get them cheaper than a RR even after replacing the exhaust & adding a Power Commander. If you request the exhaust with the high mount, the ground clearance is almost the same. I like the sound of the Two Brothers. My favorite 600 was a 2004 F4I with Two brothers.B|
