Fatality

Recommended Posts

ANOTHER fatality at Disney!! This makes the third in the past 2 years. UNACCEPTABLE. These people didn't know they might die....they didn't sign any waivers telling them about injury or death. Disney didn't ask each of these people about health.. I think we need to ground...err shut down ALL rollercoasters till they figure out what happened. To make it worse the poor kid was only 12!

I'm not trying to make light of a death. Just it would be nice if we get facts about skydiving accidents before we run off on 4 pages of posts following a fatality...Sometimes people die unfortunately ..Information and education..

Sorry.... I will run and hide now..

How many millions of rides go just fine on those? I'd say 3 deaths in 2 years out of millions of people is pretty frickin' mild.

And I'd bet that somewhere on their admission pass is something regarding liability. If people don't want to take chances, they don't need to. Nobody put a gun to that kid's head and said "Listen, punk, you're going to Disneyworld, and you're going to get on that god damned ride"

Some people live, some people die. I've got money on a congenital birth defect that never would have shown up on any questionnaire anyway. Sucks for the family, but that's just how life is. If he had died on the drive there, would you be calling for no children in cars?

Shutting down roller coasters that millions of people enjoy safely over a statistically insignificant death would be asinine. If people think they're too dangerous, they just won't go. Having the government shut them down would be a massive misuse of government power, like 99% of the things they do. Poorly thought out knee jerk reactions help absolutely nobody. Look at the FCC for a fantastic example of this.

***EDIT*** I had -just- woken up when I posted this, I thought he was serious. Letting the post stand as a retort to people who actually think like that.

Swoop is just bitter... He got kicked out of the Mickey Mouse Club for touching himself too much... :D

Jeff

LOL....no, it was supposed to be sarcastic. I was just waiting for the onslot of questions....
What type of seatbelt were they using?
Were they at the beginning or end of the ride?
Was the sun high in the sky or was it later in the day?
Who sold this kid the ticket?
Should we *really* let people this age ride coasters?

.....and the other 100 questions that go for 4 pages before we get the facts of a fatality.

YES, Perfect summary........some people don't feel this way though

I know. ;) I was trying to think up some of the typical questions, but got distracted, and decided that an off color comment would be more funnier... guess not. :D:S

So how may roller coaster rides did this kid have anyway? At what point in the ride did he go limp? What was the roller coaster loaded at?

Jeff
Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!

was the ride operator incompetent and didn't strap in the kid properly?

>>>>>>>>>>>> That operator was always SAFE and the best guy ever. He didn't nothing wrong.

I saw him once drink a beer before he strapped in a kid

>>>>>>>>>>> Maybe but I work at that disney and its a SAFE well run facility.

I heard it was all the park managers fault. He made the operator strap the kid in wrong.

:S:S:S sound familiar?

I'd say it's more the kids/parents fault for the death. Disney has had these rollercoasters for how long? How many people have ridden them? You know you're getting on a twisty, crazy ride, and you should accept all the risks associtated with that, unless the death or injury is caused by a malfunction of the ride itself, but if it's functioning normally and your body wigs out, why is that Disney's fault?

"Most people don't realize that the number of fatalities per passenger mile on roller coasters is higher than on passenger trains, passenger buses, and passenger planes," Markey said.

Stupidest quote in the whole article.

I think the best way to prevent this sort of thing is to shut down ALL action/adventure/theme parks.

if we do that we can prevent the next death. I'll bet if we do that, there won't be any more deaths ...ever.

I'm going to start a pro-life petition. who wants to sign it?

if we can enough peope to sign it and send it to congress they can finally do absolutely nothing about it, just like the way they handle everything else.

so who's with me? who's pro life? who's against all things fun?
if we back down from this, we will never regain safety and order. we can not allow our freedoms to be eroded. let's stand up for our rights and remember

Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough... the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!

What the fuck happened to the DZ.com I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you JT, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this.

I'm with you, JT. We should close all amusement rides, prohibit driving, turn off escalators. In fact, it'd be safer if everyone just sat very still on a La-Z-Boy in front of the TV. Wait - maybe we should have all the TVs turned off just in case.
