sartre 0 #1 June 25, 2006 The 6 degrees of separation thing came up at work today. Here are my very weak claims to fame: I met Michael Landon while he was filming his last series in Pasadena, Ca. Impressions: He was short, had scummy jeans on and tennies. I wasn't impressed, but then again, I was in my 20's and shallow. My best friend in Cali grew up with & went to High School with John Stamos (I've seen pictures & I know where his mom lives). And a good friend of mine is the sister of Tom Scott Everett. BTW, he has a new series out called "Saved". That's as close as I get to knowing anybody famous. I'm sure there's better stories out there, though. 'Fess up! FallinWoman 1 #2 June 25, 2006 I walked past Bob Costas on the streets on Clayton, Missouri. (suburb of St. Louis) Impressions: He is short. I said hello and he was cordial in reply. I met August Busch (Gussie, the past prez of Anheuser Busch) in my dad's office when I was in middle school. He was old and scary, but nice. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! sartre 0 #3 June 25, 2006 Oh, that reminded me...I did talk to--what's his name--hockey player--Joe Sacik (sp?). He was at my grocery store a couple of years ago with his then-toddler son. Actually, I talked to the little boy and ignored Joe. My husband told me later that was who he was.

Muenkel 0 #5 June 25, 2006 Off the top of my head that I can remember, I've met and conversed with on several occasions Elton John, Billy Joel, Darryl Hall, John Oates and Carly Simon. Darryl Hall is much shorter in person than he appears. More importantly, my dear friend is the daughter of Len Lesser who played Uncle Leo on Seinfeld. Bud Harrelson, former shortstop for the Mets was my neighbor for many years. Tom Seaver, Hall of Fame pitcher for the Mets pitched baseballs to me when I was a child. I also met many of the other Met players from those years. Chris _________________________________________ Chris

Muenkel 0 #8 June 25, 2006 I have to add one more; I knew Tug McGraw (Father of Tim McGraw and former Met player) before Tim McGraw knew he was his father. You should bow to me, I'm special. k_marr08 0 #9 June 25, 2006 met Perry? Mason (I think) in NYC one night, that guy was funny. Met chris farleys brother like 2 times at different places, howard stern grew up in the town next to me, he was babysat by my dad's best friend when he was young, Dee Snider grew up and went to high school in my town, Busta Rhymes' kid lives somewhere around my house, Flavor Flav grew up in the town next to mine and his family still lives there, briefly met the goo goo dolls, cisco, Eve. That's all I can think of for now. Don't know anyone personally who is very famous, but bored and felt like answering this anyway :-D"I believe the risks I take are justified by the sheer love of the life I lead" - Charles Lindbergh

Muenkel 0 #11 June 25, 2006 You just reminded me, I also met Dee Snyder. In addition, I've met Harrison Ford, Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio and Emmylou Harris. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
Muenkel 0 #12 June 25, 2006 QuoteYeah, I know, but I wasn't thinking about the fact that you ride the short bus. I forgot, speaking of the short bus (Think the film 'Speed'), I also met Sandra Bullock. That was just a brief encounter in an elevator in Manhattan. Now if I ever get to meet Heather Locklear, my life will be complete. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
bisqit999 0 #13 June 25, 2006 I went to the same high school as Billy Joel. He got an honorary diploma or something like that in like 93 or 94 because he was a dropout. I graduated in 95. Just missed out on being the same class as him.

Rookie120 0 #16 June 25, 2006 I met John Candy when he was doing a shoot for Only the lonely. Very large man. Both height and girth. Ran into Billy Lane at the Atlanta airport one day. Ali, that guy is huge. To bad his health has gotten so bad. Angie Everhart, Jesse James. Some Nascar and IRL drivers. Danica Patrick is one sexy mamma! I was almost speachless to talk with her. I'm just waitting for her to get a divorce so I can make my move. And that about all I think. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck! Muenkel 0 #17 June 25, 2006 I think comes Monday when this thread is seen by many more dz.commers, you'll see lists that make mine look lame. In fact, the father of one regular poster here happens to be famous and is very recognizable. Icon134 0 #18 June 25, 2006 Are you suggesting there are actual famous people in the world... Poppycock, poppycock I tell you... I don't believe it for a second... ok... mostly I just don't really care so much about the "famous" thing... more or less I see people as people... yeah... I'm gonna stick with that... MF42 0 #19 June 25, 2006 Don't really know any celebs but have bumped into at various airports: Oprah Winfrey, Sylvester Stallone, John Goodman, the Wallflowers, the Beach Boys, and two smokin' hot chicks wearing Hustler t-shirts. Sir Alan Sugar bought himself a Cirrus and hired a pilot to ferry it across the Atlantic. The plane, because it's a Cirrus of course, immediately broke down before traveling even a few hundred miles. I fixed it and had a couple of brief telephone conversations with Sir Alan Sugar himself. I refrained from telling him that his Cirrus is an overpriced, poorly engineered and shoddily constructed plastic shitbox. In school, working Directv tech support I talked Jonathan Frakes through some troubleshooting. Same with Nick Nolte, and some NFL guy whose name I can't remember; the NFL guy was pissed that I neither knew nor cared who he was.At Oshkosh a few years ago I met Patty Wagstaff and got to hold one of the poles for her inverted ribbon cut in the Saturday airshow. (Okay, so she's technically a skygoddess and you said to leave them out, but it was still pretty freaking cool.) Matt
sartre 0 #20 June 25, 2006 Quote ok... mostly I just don't really care so much about the "famous" thing... more or less I see people as people... yeah... I'm gonna stick with that... Well, of course people are just people, well-known or not. Duh!! I'm not saying that famous makes them anything special...just that a lot of people know who they are. I just find it fun to watch my friend's brother make out on TV when I know he has a perfectly lovely marriage and two beautiful kids. I have to cover my eyes, actually, because I am embarassed for his sister!
mjosparky 4 #21 June 25, 2006 Quoteok, who's Malcolm Smith? Remember the Bruce Brown movie On any Sunday? Of course you don’t, you are probably too young. Well he was one of the featured riders. There was Malcolm, Steve and Bert Merkel a national class “C” rider. Malcolm was probably the best desert racer that ever rode a motorcycle. Won Baja several times and just about everything else.My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

kallend 2,027 #24 June 25, 2006 I knew Stephen Hawking when we were grad students in Cambridge, and I've worked with Nobel laureate Leon Lederman. And for the Brits, I once entertained TV astronomer Sir Patrick "the Eyebrow" Moore to coffee in my college rooms.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
