Duckwater 0 #20 June 25, 2006 The FAA has always been cool to me. The local airport mgr didnt like me or think to much of me having a Pitts S2B. I did a full rudder slide slip down the runway (looks like knife edge) to practice slowing down fast if the engine quit and I dove for the runway and had too much airspeed. He walks over to the hangar with a nicely dressed female. As they approach, I see she has a badge of federal origin. He thought he had me. He says "What was that?" with a shit eating grin. I explain to the nice FAA lady that that was a very important safety maneuver and that it was the only way to slow my airplane fast. She said "that was cool!" and appreciated the explanation.
