Thanks to all that replied.However none of the links show packing videos.

I’ve tried google, av, yahoo, youtube, seek, SkydivingMovies, and searched dropzone.

Anyone know why these videos seem to be so hard to find?
Or is it me? Am I just not searching correctly?

If you want a really good-quality, helpful video, you may want to consider actually buying one. There are several different ones available. If I had to learn to pack all over again, I would definitely invest in one of these.

dont buy a packing video/dvd for "learning to pack purposes". Its a waste of money imo. You only learn by doing it, period. Packing vids are made by ppl that want to make you pay for their jumps ;P

Thank you all for replying.
To be honest I am seriously thinking about getting into skydiving and so just trying to get as much information about the sport possible before spending loads of money.

I was just curious to see how a canopy is packed – rather then learn how to do it – well (not yet anyway).

I don’t want to sound like a tight ass, just don’t see the point in paying for a CD just to see how its done.

Imho a dvd/cd doesnt provide more info than hanging around in the packing area and asking guys/girls for advice.

I fumbled around with my zp canopy at first. Took me about 3 hours and kicking it several times along with some sweat and profanities. I thought i'd never ever get it in the bag, like almost everyone that is learning to pack. But eventually (it wont take years ;)) you will get it right.

First time jumping your own packjob is fun too , hoping the crap you stuffed in will get out ok.

You can pull he manufacturer manuals off the web if you want an idea of how a canopy is packed.

The best way to learn the moving parts of anything in my opinion is to get your hands on them. Take a First Jump Course and you will get to see the workings of rig. Stick around and you can watch the packers put them back together. Or even just go to the DZ and drop at hint at what you are after. Many folks are very proud of their packing and always willing to share.

Packing is something that I didn't take to as well as some other. I struggle to get my sleepingbag back into it's stuff sack! It is ok to be getting a pack job whilst you are busy learning to fly, land and graduate. My theory was that I was learning enough and would put off the packing to when my mind was less busy. I packed enough to prove I could and now I find myself in the position that my entire weekend will be spent packing...and repacking. I am grounded from a leg injury so its packing time!

Just what worked for me. I swear some folks a naturals at it.

I can see now that I’ve been going about this the wrong way, by that I mean instead of searching for videos I should have done what “repcool” suggests – should have gone to my local DZ. So I’ll go there now.

Good stuff. I'm always encouraged by those who show a willingness to listen and learn.

Keep in mind that you are going to see several different ways to pack and most every person packing will swear that their method is the best way.

Canopy manufacturers suggest a specific packing method for the most part and you will find few people actually doing it 'by the book".

For you other guys, I'm not going to argue "by the book" methods vs alternative methods.

My reality and yours are quite different.
