wildblue 7 #1 June 20, 2006 A year ago I set out to finish my CIS - AAS degree that I started a number of years ago and never finished. Didn't really need to do it, it was just bothering me that I never completed it. I just wrapped that up, and passed the CCNA exam while I was at it. So now I have a ton of free time (and a good sized home lab - I'd be willing to part with a few routers for cheap if anyone is interested) and I'm not sure what to do next. Any ideas? I could start post-whoring on DZ.com full time... but that's lost some of its entertainment value, and we sure don't need another PW here. The pay sucks too. I figure I could burn some vacation time over the next few months and do some travelling, then start looking for a new job. Which brings me to my next problem - I'm willing to end up just about anywhere so it's a little hard to narrow down the job search I just know I want to get out of this job pretty bad (the pay is decent, and sometimes the job is actually good, but the company is just all kinds of fucked up) Ohio isn't a horrible place to live, but I've only ever lived here and Florida and neither one is a spectacular place to live. The stupid quiz I took says I would like the VA, NC, SC area... oh, and Moab Not sure how those are related... but whatever. So anyone want to brag on where they live? Anyone looking for a network engineer and/or technical trainer? Any other vacation/work/living suggestions (besides 'go fuck yourself')? On a completely unrelated note - I just got an email from Flot Top Grill - if anyone is around Madison, WI and wants a free lunch or dinner there on Thursday, June 29 or Saturday, July 1 - I have a number for you. PS - Remster: that warning I told you about? This is it. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 June 20, 2006 I have liked NC just fine since 1984. The area I live in has incredibly affordable housing, great weather, is close to beaches (90 miles), is only four hours from snow skiing, and has three turbine DZ's within 75 miles; two closer than 25 miles. PhreeZone 20 #5 June 20, 2006 You just bought a house and now you want to move huh? SDhould have stayed in the apartment. Seriously check out NC, also if I had it to do all over again I would have probally wound up in NM in college instead of staying in Ohio. I doubt you would like NM since its hot, sunny, and they only have a 182 DZ Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

AggieDave 6 #7 June 20, 2006 Sounds like you need to go on a DZ tour this summer around the US. That way you can find areas you like. Come visit Texas and stay with me during your tour.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
wildblue 7 #8 June 20, 2006 QuoteWhat? Who? When? WTF? QuoteI'll go back to hiding now. I have one more exam to pass... then look the fuck out (you've been warned) I hear Iceland's nice to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there. I could do contract/consulting work for awhile probably... I'll look into that. I've actually had my eye towards NC for a couple of years now - it looks like it doesn't completely suck. Looks like most jobs that might fit me are in Charlotte or Raleigh/Durham. QuoteYou just bought a house and now you want to move huh? Eh, I bought the place knowing I wouldn't be there too long. I figured I'd be selling it after a year or two or turning it into a rental. It was planned that way at least it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
rodeochic 0 #9 June 21, 2006 You should move to Antarctica. Then you'd pretty much be alone so nobody would be around to bother you.
