Windwalker 0 #1 June 18, 2006 I just saw a little news piece about a new sporting discipline, but didn't quite catch what it was called. It's called parcoor or something like that. It involves climbing up things and then jumping off. Some of the jumping was pretty impressive. Jumping off of some fairly high objects onto concrete and then walking away... It seems like people have figured out how to train for this and do it relatively safely. Does anyone know something about this? ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry. matt1215 0 #2 June 18, 2006 Isn't that called BASE?
Windwalker 0 #3 June 18, 2006 No. It doesn't involve the use of a parachute or any other type of deceleration device. No bungy chords no crash pads, just a good pair of running shoes. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry. matt1215 0 #4 June 18, 2006 Hmm, seems like whatever training they'd do for that would benefit us for hard landings. Then again, I find running shoes to be a little sticky for skydiving.
shropshire 0 #5 June 18, 2006 It's Urban Running or Le Parkour (since it originated in France). There was a very interesting video posted here a few weeks ago of a Russian doing it well... very very well. (.)Y(.) MF42 0 #15 June 19, 2006 QuoteHere's a getting started guide. http://parkour.net/modules/wiki/index.php?page=how+to+start LMAO!!!! Follow the link, read the short article there, find out that parkour was started by people in the French army, and that it's considered very useful for running away from a conflict!!!! That's perfect. It writes itself. Matt
