Too many Matts

I have decided that there are far too many people named Matt on this site.

In order to prevent any possible confusion, all you other Matts are going to have to change your names. Clyde, Walter, Sergio...I don't care, just change it. Since it's my idea, I will be the only Matt to remain unchanged. I think that's fair.

You have two weeks to effect the change. At the end of the transition period, any Matts who fail to comply voluntarily will be forcibly supplied with a new name, and you definitely won't like that. So get crackin'.

Ok, so possibly I'm being a little too sensitive over the issue.
That Shaiziel guy is Matt.
There's a matt1214 or something like that.
I can't think of their handles right now, but I know there's at least three others posting over in those "serious" forums over there.

It's just faintly irksome when other people use my name without asking, that's all.

I'd say let's roll for it. But I always roll 20's.

If you check out an etymology website you'll find that "Matt" was consistently in the top 10 most common baby names for most of the 80's. Our parent's were just too unimaginative.

Seriously, all through school there was a Matt in every other class. I've worked with five Matts that I can immediately remember.

And Matt, you're also right that too many ppl named their kids Matt in the 70's & 80's . Actually my folks let my sister name me, when she was 8.

Growing up, I don't remember ever having a class without another Matt, sometimes 2 or 3 others .

Now that you mention it, yeah, and the same thing's plagued me for years . People ask if they can call me Matthew or Matt, depending how I introduce myself. My response is to call me whatever whatever the f@$% they want, as long as it's not $#!+head or Susan.

Legally for me it is Matthew but I go by Matt and unless it's super important paperwork I just say Matt.

Perhaps they ask cause they just want the "TRUE" name.

Of course I've been called all kinds of variations:

Mattias
Matteo

See, I always make a point of trying to remember how a person prefers to be called, and avoid calling them something else. It seems like basic good manners to me. I'm baffled why anybody would do otherwise.

Matthew doesn't really bother me, that's how I introduce myself over the phone, and 95% of where my name's written. In casual situations, unless you're my parents, it's Matt.

Yeah I've never dug the name Matthew myself. When a few guys from Germany referred to me as Matthias it stuck.
