fireflytx 0 #1 June 12, 2006 I just went for my pre op appointment today after wearing my stupid fucking glasses for three weeks to find out my corneas are too thin to get Lasik. I have been waiting to do this for years. I am totally bummed out this is the biggest suck that has happened in a long time. AggieDave 6 #5 June 12, 2006 That sucks. The glasses you were wearing yesterday looked really cute, though. I'm sure Jeff has told you that on many occasions. You can still wear contact, if you want to, right?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
goodnplentygirl 0 #6 June 12, 2006 OH NO!!! I'm so sorry hunny, I know how much you were looking forward to it. It will be ok though, at least you can still wear your contacts. I am so damn blind and just wanted it to go away Hey, see if there's a place that'll do LASIK. It's a little bit different than LASIK in thhat they don't cut a flap in the cornea, and so don't need as much of it. They just burn directly on top of the eye. Because of that, unlike LASIK, you don't heal immediately; it takes a few days, but the outcome is just as good. I had the same problem, but was able to get the surgery done by that method. This ad space for sale.
shaiziel 0 #10 June 12, 2006 I'm wondering what ever happened to that corrective procedure where they used weights to change the shape of your cornea. ---------------------------------------- 6.8% - Almost there!

JohnRich 4 #12 June 12, 2006 QuoteThat sucks. The glasses you were wearing yesterday looked really cute, though. That's what I was thinking. Kind of like Superman with an alter-ego. She hung around Skydive Houston on Saturday with the glasses, like a meek librarian type, and then ducked into a phone booth and changed into the raging fire-woman at night. Va va voom! Contact lenses are only a small hassle, but a heck of a lot better than glasses. I've been wearing 'em for about 25 years now. They probably are due for a cleaning by now... Nice photo, Turtle. Got any more goodies?

I am so damn blind and just wanted it to go away I had this procedure done about 3 weeks ago http://www.lasikmd.ca/en/lasik-md/zyoptix-custom-wavefront.html. It's recommended for people with thinner corneas. Check into it. I can email you the entire package they sent me before I had my pre-op assessement, if you like. katiebear21 0 #19 June 12, 2006 What about PRK? It used to be all they did here a few years ago. I think it's still the only type of surgery the SF guys can get. Katie Get your PMS glass necklace here

unformed 0 #21 June 12, 2006 Yeah, that's what I had done: Custom wavefront with Lasek. Custom wavefront is more accurate because they use computers to take topographical images of your eye. With that, they can get something like 12 readings, whereas, a doctor can normally only take three. Watching the images on the computer while this is done is absolutely sick. peregrinerose 0 #22 June 12, 2006 Be happy that your surgeon was one of the ethical docs who advised you regarding this rather than chopping your corneas anyway. It scares me how unethical a small handful of surgeons can be! I don't know if you went to one of the places that only does LASIK or if you saw a specialist who performs a variety of surgeries, but there is much more to life than LASIK ... LASIK is heavily advertised and people make a fortune doing it, that's the only reason it's the one that is well known. There is PRK, Intacs, implatable lenses, and several other refractive procedures that do not involve flaps (less corneal thickness required). There is also orthokeratology, molding the cornea with RGP contact lenses worn while you sleep, to have the same effect non-surgically. There are also some very good contact lenses that are approved to be slept in now and have better comfort than many previous contacts. Just because LASIK isn't an option doesn't mean you'll have to settle for walking into walls Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

That made me laugh. Aw come on, turtle - live dangerously. Dare to piss off a woman that spins fire! Attached is one I took at one of her performances several years ago. And I'm just an amateur photographer. Surely, you, Mr. Turtle, with your fancy equipment, can do better than this. Gosh, I sure hope that isn't considered to be a "stupid face'. Rookie120 0 #24 June 13, 2006 I have been thinking about Lasik for some time now. Never had the exam done yet. Thats a bummer you cant get it done. How much was the Lasik going to run in cost now. My sister got it done and it was about $2,000 per side. Wonder if that is the going rate now.If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck! ffejdraga 0 #25 June 13, 2006 I had it done in Canada (Niagara Falls) about 5 years ago. It was $1000 USD for both eyes, total. No problems at all. I can see, and I haven't had any issues at all since. YMMV jeff D-16906
