If I reread one of my own posts, and I notice an error, I will edit it. If I quote someone in a reply to a post, I'll correct what they wrote. And if I'm not sure how to spell a word, I'll either use a different word or look up the spelling in the dictionary.

I say, put commas where you think they should go to have the sentence read the way you want.
Okay, so some of the punctuation rules are kinda important.

QuoteYes, I'm one of those people that misspellings bother. But, I don't usually correct people. I've never been able to read a book without noting the errors. It distracts me from understanding what is being said. I have to read it twice... once for errors and once for meaning.

I reread the sentences that contain misspellings twice... not the whole book! But I'll agree that I'm odd. And I use that trait to my advantage in my work.

That being said, this is a written media, and your spelling and grammar will affect how others perceive you and your points.

Try blowing off spelling, grammar, and punctuation in the next resume you send off and see how seriously it's considered.
Hopefully that illustrates the point?
I love you, Shannon and Jim.

I'm not a teacher, but I'll catch a spelling error just reading something and it drives me nuts. Have you ever read a published book and found spelling errors? Grrrrrrrr........

On an internet chat room it doesn't matter so much.

Yes it does

Every time someone writes "breaks" when they were taking about "brakes" or when they write "flair" when they meant "flare" I think about how much spelling matters.
