jtval 0 #1 June 5, 2006 so, On friday I decided to have a beer while posting on some silly skydiving website.( that place wastes alot of my time) when Iopened my secondbeer It started to foam over. so I ran the beer into the kitchen. Well, I didn't realized that i spilled some onmy laptop computer. Apparently, it's a lightweight (4.5 lbs) it went into a drunken coma for 4 days. the good thing is, itsworks again, the badthingis its slightly retarded. soem ofthe buttons are sticking. so, among the typograpghical errors, you grammar nazis will have to deal with misspaced words, too I was thinking of taking thekeys off and using canned air/denatured alcohol to try to clean this thing up. anyone got any more suggestions? (the good thingis I have a desktop with a keyboard so I will be able to get them back in the correct spots.)My photos My Videos
seekfun 0 #2 June 5, 2006 Most laptops these days are top-rack dishwasher safe. You could try that. But, don't use the drying cycle."...there is a there out there..." - Tom Robbins

jtval 0 #8 June 5, 2006 I've heard that about keyboards. but I wouldn't put my laptop inthe dishwasher. TECHNICALLY speaking you can wash almost any electronic item aslong asyou do NOTapply power until it is completely dry. if you drop an electronic item in apuddle do notturnitonuntil you are sure it is dry.(giveit a few weeksif needbe) I did that with my first digital camera. I droppedit wil climbing. it fell in a 2 foot deep puddleandsat there for a few mintues before I was able to climb down and get it. even after it wasbashed on the rocks and soaked It worked when I was dried outMy photos My Videos

Seems to me like the laptop isn't the only one who had a problem "holding" thier alcohol.. ok.. that was lame, I admit.. but atleast I amuse myself.. twibbles 0 #11 June 5, 2006 Distilled water would be best i guess, don't want and residue that's left after the water evaporates to short out anything.
