did you get the cut?

Recommended Posts

I was just thinking about something a friend told me about guys in the US being mostly cut (i'm from the UK), and thinking how fortunate that the UK doesn't feel the need to remove this protective layer.

I have also heard that it can effect control.

thoughts anyone?

I do remember a joke about this I heard years ago.

A couple of 12 year olds are in the hospital. One is being circumsized and the other is having his tonsils removed. The one that is getting circunsized looks at the other kid and says," Getting your tonsils removed is great. When they are done you get all the ice cream you can eat." The other kid looks at him and says," Well getting circumsized sucks. I had it done as a baby and I couldn't walk for a year after that."

Nothing to do with your question, but I thought is was funny. Of course, I am easily amused.;)

Being a guy, and knowing how lax some guys are about hygiene, I think it is a reasonable thing to be circumsized. It does have health benefits. Also, some people would do it even if it weren't suggested, for religious reasons.

one of my friend used to claim he could rub a cheese grater over the end of his knob

Before we go any further, I have to say that your friend is one sick bastard!

he was claiming to have increased stamina

I don't know. I've only ever had my penis one way, and it works for me. I think the ladies should comment on the relative durations of circumcised and uncircumcised men. They are the ones who would know comparative data.

Metaphorically speaking of course:D.

I'd have to agree with you on this.

I was the first guy my ex was with (in NZ) who had been cut...and after nearly 7 years with me, she confesses she couldn't take it the other way. She finds it nearly repulsive to look at.

Her sister, on the other hand, has never had someone who was cut...and was always curious and inquisitive about it, but couldn't imagine what she'd do with someone who was.

I think in the end, it all depends on the person...and how you feel about them. If a woman loves everything about you, but you have a piece of extra skin on your knob....hell, there could be worse things...you could not be cut, but give her an STD!

Someone previously made the point about hygiene...and I concur - it is so easy to do a once over with the soap and be done with it!

Yup, count me in on the 'glad to be snipped' group!

What really cracks me up are the stories of guys who feel "robbed" or "mutilated" in some way...and go about growing their foreskin back. I mean REALLY...they claim they can remember back to when it was done...and how it has adversely affected their lives!! No sir, I think all the video games and D&D, Everquest, and Majik is what ruined your life!!!!!:o GET A LIFE....TAKE UP SKYDIVING!!!!;)

Oh yes because nothing protects like excess foreskin. I'm going to make a frapp hat out of some.:)

I refused to be circumcised when moving to Israel. I am not circumcised. My children will not be circumcised. Enough said.

Push,

That is certainly your right. But I think the links you posted are fairly biased. There is also a substantial body of medical knowledge that does support it. It isn't a clear-cut issue. :P (Sorry, I had to!)

I think it all boils down to the parents right to choose for their boys.

While that's true, and elsewhere on the site they say that in certain cases circumcision is beneficial, those quotes from those medical associations are convincing. Plus, there's an old adage that applies -"if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Ah, the old form versus function. I don't suppose you would volunteer to have your labia cut off? Not that I think it would look better that way, just for comparison:P My point is that it's a cultural thing. If no circumcision ever existed, the normal form would be what women preferred.

Nah, I'll keep my foreskin. Never had any problems with it;) As to feeling better on the tongue, trying pulling the foreskin back;)

Where is your evidence? The American College of Pediatricians doesn't agree with you.

Parents have a right to subject a child to disfiguring, painful and unnecessary surgery? I don't think that they do.

For example:

New England Journal of Medicine article about increased risk to women through viruses transmitted from men. The transfer rates are substantially higher from uncircumcised men.
http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/abstract/346/15/1105

But that isn't really the point. I'm no circumcision crusader. I'm just commenting that there are pros and cons on both sides of the issue. There are health benefits of circumcision, along with health risks.

"Disfiguring" is more an objective measure than anything else. As to subjecting children to painful and unnecessary procedures, why is circumcision different than a number of other ones? A flu shot falls into that category too, but lots of people do it.
