JRock 0 #1 May 31, 2006 With all that has happened in the past week, I thought it wouldn't hurt to start a thread for the little things that can greatly reduce your chances from injury or death. This can help everyone from students to the person with 10,000 jumps. 1. Do you do a complete rig check everytime you jump your rig? (ie.. three ring assembly, bridle routed correctly, pilot chute cocked if needed? and so on...) Please add the things you do to help decrease the odds... I check everything I can (leg straps, chest straps, 3 ring routing, etc) on the way up also. I've got a few minutes on the way up, so I figure I might as well be productive. In the morning I'll also check all the webbing and hardware on the harness for wear before the first jump.

PesadillaK 1 #4 May 31, 2006 Also, remember to look outside prior to jump! Far to often I have seen people trusting the green light and jump without checking where they are. This will avoid an off zone landing and the probable injuries from unknown obstacles. And one more piece of advice: remember to break! Pull those toggles when landing. I also have seen my share of hard landings because people forget to flare.Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!
