jdobleman 0 #1 May 29, 2006 Well after almost 27 years in the sport I've finally added knee injury to my collection. Sliding in a tandem yesterday I caught my heel and felt something give. Can still walk but sidewards motions get my attention. So, who else has done it? Did you have surgery and if so, how long was rehab? IF you didn't have surgery, what excercises do you do to keep the knee strengthened? thanks for the info. madjohn Main goals in life: Be on the "Jumpers Over Eighty" (JOE) World Record and attend the Lost Prairie Boogie once after I'm gone. d_squared431 0 #2 May 30, 2006 I have done my ACL and meniscus in left knee and right knee strained MCL and PCL. Did rehab on both knees different times. Still have problems with my left knee all the time. That is the only one I had fixed. As far as recovery time it is different for everyone. The sooner you start physical therapy the better.TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly
warpedskydiver 0 #3 May 30, 2006 I tore mine off the bone once. did my PCL and tibia plateau as well as destroying the meniscus. It is nothing to mess around with you need to make sure it heals without exacerbating the injury. You make in the future require the use of orthotics. Hope you take my advice and heal fast. (4 wks ago) Did it running out a landing but it's a lot better and I have slowly got back to jumping after getting physical therapy and lots of icing. I was told that that ligament heals without surgery. After about 6 months it was like I never hurt it. Hope this helps. Rehab was short & sweet...a few times a week for a few weeks. Granted I was like 23 years old at the time, not your age, but for a reasonably fit guy who organizes heavy metal loads, I wouldn't worry too much. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" I've had my share of knee troubles, (never skydiving related though) but I've never torn that one. Hope we're still going to see you at Lost Prairie! I went to the doc and they told me that it was just strained and not to worry. It got better but it is a relatively painful thing to do. I am sorry that you hurt it, but i am sure that you will be in the sky in no time at all.Yeah...You need to grow up. -Skymama
 jdobleman 0 #10 May 31, 2006 Thanks to everyone for their replies, especially given with the loss of GFD. God, I loved her. I've got an orthopedic appointment on Thursday so I'll know more then. Big question will be when for the surgery, right away so I'll be ready for LP or wait until later. May have no choice given it's Kaiser. Bottom line is I can walk so I can jump. No tandems in no-wind conditions though. Glad it's after snow season ended.
