Went to my first boogie this Sat. Winds were questionable. There were folks with many years/jumps gounding themselves. Was advised by a very dear friend/experienced jumper that if they're staying on the gound so should I. Glad I listened

Yesterday, there was a fatality at Louisa in VA, but I haven't seen anything about it or heard anything about it on the news.

This weekends stats do not make for good reading - very sad. I know it's a holiday weekend and so more people have probably be jumping than usual but for friends and family of the people involved, that doesn't help.
We all love the sport and know & accept the risks but this weekend stinks.

Safety Day is a day in early spring when many dropzones in the US offer seminars on various safety related issues. IIRC the idea was to try to prevent injuries and deaths when people are getting current again after taking the winter off.

Unfortunately not every dz does it, and it's generally not those who could really benefit from the information that show up...
