Where was your 15 minutes of fame ?

Recommended Posts

When I was 7, mum took me to a judo class for kids to see if I would like it, but when we turned up they were having a special publicity night. There were photographers from the paper and they made me get all kitted up and had me hold one of the instructors (or whatever you call them) in a throw position (he was kneeling down). I think they liked the idea of a 7 year old girl in the shots rather than one of the spotty boys;) Anyway, the photo was in the paper, about A5 size and in colour:D so that was my 15 mins of fame.

Oh, also when I played in the Royal Albert Hall in some concert Imanaged to get in the background of a documentary:ph34r:

When I was 9, my school chorus sang at the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Governor's Mansion.

They snapped a photo of me mid-yawn (no hand over my mouth :D) and put it on the front page of the AJC.

Even at 9, I knew to be embarassed by that. :D

I have had a few over the years, nothing big or anything. I was in a few after school commercials when I was younger, on the TV Pow Game, sports page of the Sacramento Bee a few times in high school for softball, half a dozen or so snowboard clips for commercials/ brochures local shops and summer camps, a few clips on ESPN, and I was in the opening and closing credits for local snowboard show a couple times. Nothing exciting.

nothing huge but I've had a few things.

published in parachutist 3 times. appeared in pictures in parachutist/skydiving about 5 times. never featured, just cameo.

was published in 4 other publications for my writings.
appeared in 4 more in pictures.

was on a few tv shows in the audience, asked a question on "montel williams" show.

all in all, it amounts to nothing but it lets me post to threads like these.:D:D:D

A few years ago I got a phone call from a friend saying that this model I had been telling everyone I was going to marry was sitting in a coffee shop in Bangkok. I was there within 20 minutes and approached him and made friends. Turns out he was on transit in Bangkok for 3 days and knew no one so we ended up hanging out for those days (so surreal!). He left and a few days later my friend found these articles in online gossip mags talking about how he had found a new love in Bangkok and how we were spotted all over each other bla bla (my name was thrown in too). I got a bunch of hate mail from his fans etc even though none of it was actually true.

Now he's a huge Bollywood actor dating a super hot actress.

April 2006 issue of Parachutist... a picture of my first wingsuit jump. I was so excited about it that I carried it around for weeks and showed every whuffo that would stand still long enough...

Here was mine...pics attached. :PB|

-I had a crappy camera...the rig has neon green, though in the shot it looks neon yellow.

Edit to add: I know I look like a dork, but I was just soooooo happy. :$

I got my smiling face in Parachutist, wearing a suit and tie, of all things, receiving an award from the FAA's own Jane Garvey, back in the Spring of 2001. Also appeared on a couple of local TV shows for that same award. Pretty fun. My kids really got a kick out of Dad the TV star.

Years ago I was on a demo taped and televised nationwide, a jump into BYU's Cougar stadium. That was cool too. :)
