Seems as though, the whole show has gone from looking for the best singer to which of the judges or Seacrest can make the best derrogatory remark about one another. 'TV Land' is looking real good right now.

My review:

Taylor Hicks--I enjoyed his first performance and his cute lil' suit. I disagree with Simon b/c it's a singing/performing competion and Taylor does both well--Simon just has a personal issue with Taylor's dancing. Ordinarily, I tend to agree with Simon, but about Taylor, he's usually wrong---obviously I'm not the only one who thinks so being that Taylor has never been in the bottom 3.

Taylor's second peformance--fabulous.

Chris Daughtry--First performance was "Aa'ight". I did not care for the second performance at all until the end and his white shirt looked cheap. But, I still got nothin' but love for him. He will go on to the next round.

Katherine....my dear Katherine. She is absolutely beautiful! I thought she sounded wonderful in both pre-performance clips of her practicing with Tony Mottola. But when she peformed? Ughggh! No good. On another note, Katherine has successfully figured out the ultimate definition of seduction---it's when you don't *look* like you're trying to seduce but that it just comes *naturally* to you---trust me it's not natural--she knows what she's doing--and she does it WELL. Gorgeous!

Katherine will/should get the boot.

My guess is that Taylor is safe but it's a tossup between the other two. Katherine seems to "over-sing" a little but Elliot's kind of annoying.

The difference between Taylor and the rest is that Taylor seems truly focused on connecting with his audience and entertaining them. By comparison, the other guys seem somewhat self-absorbed.

Katherine really wants to connect and gave it a good shot last night, but didn't quite make it.

Elliot does seems genuine and that would make him a great guy to hang out with, but it doesn't necessarily make him a great entertainer. He is a really good singer, although I don't care for his voice all that much.

By self-absored, I don't mean he's an ego freak. I think he's quite the opposite. I mean he doesn't seem to have developed that ability to really step outside of himself. The whole basis of American Idol is to take some very talented young performers and market them as products. That whole concept seems weird, but that's the reality of it.

When Elliot says he's gonna sing whatever song to let people see his "softer side", he comes off as someone who is marketing himself but has no clue where his niche is. That's completely understandable and even to be expected, because he is new to that environment. When I refer to him as being self-absorbed, it's because I think he is locked inside himself by insecurities based on fear of the unknown. Understandable for sure.

It's kind of similar for the others, except for Taylor. Taylor seems to absolutely lust after that connection with the audience and he's obviously done enough performing to have a really good feel for where his niche is. He is totally in his element when he's performing.

I didn't make that comment based on my own taste at all--I think she's gorgeous "as is". "The OC" and other shows like that are all about "pretty people" as defined by those mannequin-like images the media shove down our throats every day.

I don't care what Simon says...hehehehee...There are just some songs that when sung by a different artist, will always sound Karoke "ish". Elvis songs will be that way...No one will ever sing them as well as Elvis.

Chris - One dimensional. Sounds like every other 'rocker' from the 90's. Name one solo rock artist. Rock artists are supposed to come as a package deal - with a band. Well, Chris left his band.

Elliot - great voice, but not necessarily anything new here. I felt like a few of his 'runs' last night were just a bit off. Not sure what his niche is.

Katherine - superb voice, and hot as a $3 pistol. Last night, and last week - not so great. Would I buy her albums? No. Somebody would though.

Taylor - probably the most unique performer to come along in the series. Although I care less for the dancing Taylor, and more for the soulful Taylor, I think he is trying to do what he needs to do to win. If Ray Charles and Joe Cocker had a gay love child, Taylor would be him. I'd probably buy his album, if some stupid record producer doesn't screw it up.

In a shocker, Chris goes home.
