skymama 37 #27 May 24, 2006 QuoteTwo liquigel 200mg advils and one 500mg rapid release Tylenol. It kicks my migraine's ass. Works for sinus headaches too. One of my son's soccer coaches swore that the Advil liquigels worked faster than anything else. I haven't bought them yet, but maybe I will now. Kelli, don't take too much ibuprofen. I've been taking a lot lately because of back pain, still drank my normal amount of liquor and ended up with an ulcer. Ouch. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

kelel01 1 #30 May 24, 2006 Alright, Johnny-come-latelys. I actually did take the extra 400mg, but I won't do it again. I don't want to go into liver failure. And I did take the caffeine. I knew that much. I just wish I'd had my Imitrex on me. Imitrex is the shiz-nit, especially in the form of a shot.

And rub one out while you're down there, that always seems to help with migraines. --- xenaswampjumper SPANKS THIS ASS!!! I WISH karenmeal spanked this ass too..... Muenkel 0 #36 May 24, 2006 I'm pretty sure it is Tylenol that screws with your liver. Ibuprofen screws with your kidneys. Anyway, 800mg of Ibuprofen at one time is usually the most you should take. It is the same as a motrin. 4-6 hours later, the extra 400 should be OK. Since you already took it, I'm sure you will be OK if it is a 1 time thing. I just wouldn't do it everyday. With all that said, Ibuprofen does not work on migraines. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
kelel01 1 #37 May 24, 2006 It left me with a dull ache - but bear in mind, that was 1200mg. Excedrin migraine doesn't work for shit, though. The only stuff that REALLY works for me is prescription stuff, or sleep, if I can get it.

Muenkel 0 #39 May 24, 2006 When you get a chance, get yourself a prescription to have on hand. It is much safer. Besides kicking the shit out of your liver and kidneys, analgesics will cause 'rebound' headaches and then it becomes a viscious cycle. Generally a neurologist will use an anti-seizure drug such as tegretol to keep the headaches from ever starting. Hope you feel better Kel, Chris _________________________________________ Chris
kelel01 1 #40 May 24, 2006 I do feel much better. There's just a bit of soreness now. I always get that the day after a migraine. Feels like my brain was overworked . . . physically. (No smart remarks. ) Thanks. The severity of headaches covers a huge spectrum. I do believe people are sometimes too quick to pop tylenol/advil. At the same time though, there are cases where medication is necessary. True migraines generally fall in the latter category. I also believe it is common for people to mis-label a type of headache. I think it is common to hear someone claim they have a migraine, when in fact it could just be a bad tension headache. Tension headaches will generally respond to more alternative treatment (ie: massage, hot or cold compresses) than migraines. The effect of this typically is dosing faster than if you would have taken one larger perscription pill. That can contribute to the fact that you really shouldn't take that much IB at a time. I get tension headaches, works pretty good for that, but I prefer to have my neck/shoulders rubbed cause it works well too.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
